The concept of caste is relatively new" Vedas contain no word that can be
considered a synonym for ,caste-" The two words commonly considered to mean
,caste- are .aati and Varna" However the truth is that, all the three mean
completely different things"

same manner, entire humanity forms one ,.aati-" particular .aati will have similar
physical characteristics, cannot change from one .aati to another and cannot
cross-breed" Thus .aati is creation of Ishwar or 7od"
8rahmin, 9shatriya, Vaishya and )hudra are no way different .aati because there
is no difference in source of birth or even physical characteristics to differentiate
between them"

The actual word used for 8rahmin, 9shatriya, Vaishya and )hudra is ,Varna- and
not .aati"
The word ,Varna- is used not only for these four, but also for %asyu and rya"
5Varna* means one that is ado+ted by choice( 5Varna* means one that is ado+ted by choice( 5Varna* means one that is ado+ted by choice( 5Varna* means one that is ado+ted by choice( Thus, while .aati is provided by
7od, ,Varna- is our own choice"
Those who choose to be rya are called ,rya Varna-" Those who choose to be
%asyu become ,%asyu Varna-" )ame for 8rahmin, 9shatriya, Vaishya and )hudra"
That is why Vedic %harma is called ,Varnashram %harma-" The word Varna itself
implies that this is based on complete freedom of choice and meritocracy"

per Vedas, even nature is eternal" nd same atoms recycle among various
humans" )o it is technically impossible for any one ta'ing birth from 7od-s body,
even if we assume 7od to be having a body"
d" The said 6urush )u'ta is in :?st @hapter of Ya!urved, apart from &igved and
tharvaved with some variations" In Ya!urved it is :?"??" To see what it actually
means, let us loo' at the previous mantra :?"?A"
It as's a Buestion * $ho is mouth> $ho is hand> $ho is thigh and who is leg>
The ne=t mantra gives the answer * 8rahmin is mouth" 9shatriya is hand" Vaishya
is thigh and )hudra becomes the legs"
/ote that the mantra does not say that 8rahmin 0ta'es birth1 from mouthIt says
8rahmin 0is1 mouth" 8ecause if the mantra would mean 0ta'es birth1 it would not
answer the Buestion in previous mantra 0$ho is mouth>1

The ne=t mantras tal' of other parts of this body li'e mind, eyes etc" The 6urush
)u'ta describes the origin and continuation of creation including human society
and states ingredients of a meaningful society"
Thus, its a pity that such a beautiful allegorical description of society and creation
is distorted to mean something that is completely contrary to Vedic ethos"
Dven the 8rahman te=ts, ;anusmriti, ;ahabharat, &amayan and 8hagvat do not
state anything even close to cra(y hypothesis of 7od creating 8rahmins by tearing
of flesh from his mouth, 9shatriya from flesh of hands and so on"

It is thus obvious why 8rahmins are accorded high respect in Vedas" This is same
as what happens even in modern society" )cholars and e=perts get our respect
because they form the direction-providers for entire humanity" However, as we
have discussed in previous articles, dignity of labor is eBually emphasi(ed in Vedas
and hence there is no element of discrimination"
