Print Collagraph Based on species of birds

Look at how other artists (i.e. Brenda Hartill, Stefan Barton and Laurie Rudling) have constructed and produced collagraph prints to get a good idea of what can be achieved by this method of printing. Compare and contrast to other collagraph artists. Sculpture Dinosaur based on sculpture style of Alberto Giacometti
Examine the elongated sculptures of Giacometti both human and animal. Examine the contextual circumstances which might have influenced his sculpture. Examine various ways of making sculptures and examples of these Examine various species of Look at Giacomettis sculptures and examine the forms, textures and poses he used. Is there a common theme to them. What seems to interest him about the human/animal form. Explain how his figurative work was possibly influenced by the post war society of the time. Look at various methods of making sculpture and give an example of each; this will allow the pupils to expand their view on what sculpture can be.

Textiles Based on the built environment
Examine other textile artists approach to representing the built environment Achieve skill in some techniques of making textile piece Explore the composition possibilities of the chosen site Use line drawing to focus on shapes and line Achieve skill in developing a simple design from the drawing Achieve skill in interpreting the design into a textile piece Achieve skill in creating a textile piece using various techniques, materials and colour. Examine other textile artists work especially those concerned with the built environment. The examples here are Heather Dubreuil and Daphne Cowen. Discuss how they approach rendering the image in textiles and the methods they may have used.
Discuss the types of techniques used when working with textiles i.e. Stitching by hand and machine, weaving, tapestry, knitting, embroidery etc.
Discuss how textiles have been decorated in the past using these methods i.e. the Bayeux Tapestry and the Ros Tapestry in New Ross.
