AIMS OF LESSON:

Nr Stages of the lesson Activities Skills Interaction Time 1 Warm-up The teacher greets the students, checks attendance and makes sure the conditions are proper for the lesson to begin. Speaking T S S T 2 2 Lead-in The teacher presents the objectives of todays lesson, writes the title of the new lesson on the blackboard and asks the students to write it in their notebooks.
The teacher presents some flashcards with vocabulary related to household items. The teacher asks students to identify as many objects on the flashcards as they can. After this activity, the teacher will show a power point presentation with all the objects previously presented and asks the students to name each one and tell what it is used for. Speaking

8 3 Introducing new material The teacher introduces ways to describe household items based on shape (square, round, rectangular), size (large or small) and colour. The teacher also introduces the questions students have to use in dialogues: What shape is it? It is . Round, square.. What size is it? It is large, small What colour is it? It is black, white What is it used for? It is used for cleaning, washing

10 4 Activity 1 The teacher gives students handouts. He tells them to look at the first exercise. The students will have pictures of different household items and they will have to answer different questions about each of them. (What shape is it? What size is it? What colour is it? What is it used for?) After they finish, some of them will be asked to read their answers to the rest of the class. Writing Speaking T S S T
10 5 Activity 2 The teacher tells the students to go on to the second exercise. This will be a group exercise. In groups of four they will have to match pictures of household items with their description. After they finish, the students will have to write short descriptions for the items. (The washing machine is white, large and rectangular. It is used for washing clothes.) Some of them will then be asked to read their descriptions to the rest of the class. Reading Writing Speaking T S Group work S S S T 15 8 Feed-back and homework As homework, the students are asked to write short descriptions of five household items (others from the ones already described). The teacher asks the students if they enjoyed the lesson, congratulates the most active students and encourages the others. T S 5
