+aliration is the responsiilit" of the 1vionics Division.
(-) /nsched!led Maintenance. /nsched!led maintenance is the
maintenance re#!ired d!e to SE fail!res or as a res!lt of discrepancies
and deficiencies fo!nd d!ring sched!led maintenance. /nsched!led
maintenance consists of fa!lt isolation (tro!leshooting)' repair or
replacement' test' and caliration' if re#!ired.
(=) /pon approval " the cogni:ant SE+1' non($*I SE eing
transferred shall have all S!ppl" doc!mentation attached to the
appropriate SE +!stod" and Maintenance 3istor" $ecord (OP014 =A7.@)6).

sched!led &or;load. If possile' SE on s!c!stod" to !ser activities
shall e recalled at least 6 da" prior to a sched!led inspection. 2hen
operational re#!irements dictate' PM ma" deviate pl!s or min!s - da"s
on calendar c"cles and pl!s or min!s 6. percent on meter times. The
ne8t inspection &ill e d!e as if no deviation had occ!rred.
0OTE: 2hen deviations descried previo!sl" have een e8ceeded' the SE
item is restricted from f!rther operation !ntil completion of the
s!9ect inspection' that is' after - da"s or 6. percent have passed.
2hen PM inspections are done earlier than 6. percent or - da"s' the
ne8t inspection is d!e ased on the date@ho!r@c"cle the PM inspection
commenced. SE reporting c!stodians need no higher a!thorit" to perform
inspections o!tside a!thori:ed deviations.
.11 Discuss the proper routing and sign)off of an SE misuse!abuse
report concerning a supported activity. [ref. b, ch. 1$]
6. $eporting SE mis!se@a!se is an all hands responsiilit". Proced!res

investigation and provide recommendations to the +O for corrective

1ll aircraft s!pport e#!ipment slings shall e proofload tested at
ne& man!fact!re to verif" the integrit" of constr!ction of the sling.
Proofload testing is also cond!cted " the IM1 after all ma9or repairs
incl!ding &elding' significant str!ct!ral repair' or replacement of
sling components &ith locall" man!fact!red' !ntested parts. There is no
re#!irement for ann!al proofload testing of aircraft s!pport e#!ipment
slings. The follo&ing re#!irements are applicale to aircraft s!pport
e#!ipment slings.
a. Slings shall e proofload tested and tagged at ne& man!fact!re. 1
certificate of proofload test from the original man!fact!rer (OEM) or
the s!pplier of p!rchased e#!ipment &ill satisf" this re#!irement'
provided the proofloads !sed meet or e8ceed the val!es specified in
applicale technical data. If ne&l" man!fact!red slings are received
thro!gh the 0av" s!ppl" s"stem &itho!t proofload tags or certificate of
proofload test' initiate a H!alit" Deficienc" $eport (HD$) in
accordance &ith OP014I0ST =A7..? to the appropriate sling +*1@*ST and
the 0av" Inventor" +ontrol Point (014I+P).

6. Paint Spra" Dooths.
1 paint spra" ooth is a ventilated str!ct!re that provides an
enclosed space for spra"ing operations. It confines and limits the
escape of spra"s' vapors' and resid!es and directs them safel" to an
e8ha!st s"stem. Proper operation and maintenance of paint spra" ooth
e#!ipment is essential to avoid the ris; of fire.
?. Paint Spra" Dooth T"pes.
The paint spra" ooth t"pes installed at 0av" aircraft intermediate
maintenance departments (1IMDs) incl!de &ater(&ash t"pe' dr" filter
t"pe' and atch po&der coating t"pe.

The &ater(&ash paint spra" ooth is e#!ipped &ith a &ater(spra"
s"stem designed to minimi:e resid!e entering the e8ha!st s"stem. The
s"stem !ses affle plates and no::les to maintain a &ater(spra" c!rtain

the affle plates and no::les do not ecome covered or pl!gged &ith

The &ater(&ash s"stem also permits the recover" of over(spra" finishing
material in a separation tan;. This tan; is normall" installed in the
rear of the ooth and is e#!ipped &ith hori:ontal and vertical screens
to collect paint resid!e and sl!dge. +hemical additives in the &ater
form a lo&(densit" precipitate that can e s;immed off the &ater,s
s!rface. Do not allo& paint resid!e and sl!dge to acc!m!late. This
resid!e is highl" flammale and sho!ld e stored in a closed metal
container !ntil it can e disposed of properl".

The dr" filter paint spra" ooth is e#!ipped &ith disposale dr"

1 po&der ooth is designed to contain over spra" po&der and allo&
over spra" po&der collection for either re(!se or disposal. Po&der
containment is accomplished " dra&ing air prod!ced " a fan &ith
s!fficient velocit" thro!gh all openings into the ooth enclos!re. The
over spra" po&der and air mi8t!re in the ooth enclos!re is hen dra&n
into the collector device &here either a filter or c"clone separate the
po&der from this containment air. The overspra" po&der collected is
then mi8ed &ith virgin po&der' s!pplied directl" to po&der g!ns' or
disposed of. The po&der collected for re(!se sho!ld e sieved to remove
contamination and condition the po&der for re(spra"ing onto the parts
to e coated.

(a) E8ha!st S"stem.
Each ooth has its o&n independent e8ha!st s"stem that is
e#!ipped &ith an e8plosion(proof fan motor. *or safe operation of these
ooths' the filtering medi!m m!st e maintained. If paint spra" is not
filtered o!t' it &ill collect in the e8ha!st fan and d!cts' creating a
fire ha:ard. It is highl" important to maintain a minimal airflo& of

() *ilter S"stem.
In the dr" filter ooth descried' replace filter pads &hen
vis!al e8amination indicates that the filters are loaded &ith paint. In
the &ater(&ash ooth' the affle plates and no::les sho!ld e e8amined
and stripped of paint &hen necessar". 2hen the filters or affles sho&
evidence of paint(loading' f!rther inspection of the e8ha!st s"stem'
incl!ding the e8ha!st fan' is re#!ired. In spra" ooths &here to!ch(!p
painting is cond!cted' inspect the filtering mechanisms ever" - months
for an acc!m!lation of paint resid!es.
