How to gain perfect Ikhlas (Sincerity)?
Problems in attaining prity of intention is a highly !estrcti"e !isease of the heart an! lea!s to the
ma#or sin of $Showing off$ or %iya.
It$s se"erity can be n!erstoo! by the Ha!ith that states that e"en a small amont of %iya is shirk.
&he Prophet 'hamme! (sallallah alaihi wasallam) ot of his lo"e an! concern for the (mmah
(nation)) feare! this calamity more than any other. *+hat I fear for yo the most is the minor shirk) that
is ar,riya. -llah will say on the .ay of /!gement when He is rewar!ing the people for their actions:
0o to those for whom yo !i! riya for in the worl! then see if yo fin! the rewar! with them.*
1%elate! by -hma! (2/345) 346) an! al,7aghawi in Sharh as,Snnah (3892) from the ha!ith of
'ahm! bin :bay!) ra!iallah $anh) with an athentic chain pon the con!itions of 'slim;

0i"en the immense importance of Ikhlas an! a"oi!ance of %iya) the scholars of &azkiya ha"e
mentione! many metho!s to attain this. In the below passage) Imam %abbani Sheikh -hme! Sirhin!i
%.-. who is one of the foremost e@perts of this fiel!) mentions in his $'aktbaat$ the way to !e"elop
absolte an! perfect Ikhlas so that e"en a remote chance of %iya is remo"e!:
*He who is still in lo"e with his Aafs (self)) !oes whate"er he !oes for his own sake whether he is
aware of it or not. 7t when the lo"e for the self !isappears an! is replace! by the lo"e of 0o!) then
whate"er he !oes) he !oes for the sake of 0o!) whether he !eliberately atten!s to his intention (niyyah)
or not.

Bo nee! to specify yor intention when yo ha"e alternati"esC bt when yo ha"e no alternati"e yo
!o not nee! to specify.
D&his is a fa"or with which 0o! blesses whom He likes) an! 0o! is the most gracios.< (Eran)
&he man whose sincerity is permanent is the $mkhlas$ (that is) the one who has been chosen by 0o!
an! reser"e! for Himself)) an! the one whose sincerity is not permanent an! who has to strggle for it
e"ery time) he is $mkhlis$ (that is) the sincere). +hat a !ifference between the twoF*
