The District 2B Track & Field Meet was
held in Glasgow this past Saturday where
both the Scotty girls and boys added first
place titles to the GHS trophy case.
The Scotty boys racked up 295 points
with the Poplar Indians taking 2nd with 64
points complete dominance. In fact, only
five events werent won by a Glasgow athlete.
The Glasgow girls were also impressive,
more than doubling up on points over
Malta: Scotties 237, MEttes 117.
But one of the highlights of the day
did go in Maltas favor as their freshman
standout Freshman Sophia Stiles of Malta
broke a pair of long-standing meet records
She ran the 300 Meter Hurdles in
47.0, breaking Mariah Guilfoyles 43.3
mark (47.44 converted to Fully Automatic
Timing standard) set back in 2000.
She also cleared 17 feet by a quarter
of an inch in the long jump, besting Wolf
Point Wolves jumper Karen Tauchers 16 8
1/2 jump back in 1985.
Team scores will tighten up tremendously
as the Northern B Divisional takes place in
Great Falls this Saturday, May 24th.
Complete District 2B results inside.
Ryan Grandchamp, winner of the 100 & 200
Meter dashes and the Long Jump at the
District 2B, has one of the top three best
times in the 100M amongst Montana Class B
athletes, and fourth best time in the 200M. He
currently holds the Class B top spot in the
long jump and third in all classes combined.
