Value Analysis Strategy

Follow the procedures by Coombs
1. Identify and explain the conflicts
2. Collect all facts which are relevant to the conflicts
3. Measure the validity of the facts
4. Explain the relevance of the facts.
5. Make a decision
Exp: Su Chin is having conflicts between two important tasks. Explain.

This is a middle-of-the-road strategy that gets everyone talking about the issues and moves you closer to
each other and to a resolution.
In compromise, each person has something to give and something to take.
Compromise is most effective when issues are complex and power balanced.

Compromise can be chosen when other methods have failed and when both you and your opponent are
looking for middle ground, willing to exchange concessions.
It almost always means giving up something in order to attain part of what you want. Negotiation and
bargaining are complementary skills.
Compromise works best when both you and the other person are "right," but simply have different values
or opinions. It doesn't work well at all when one side is clearly wrong. You wouldn't advise an employee or
colleague to compromise with sexual harassment.
Before entering into a compromise, be clear in your own mind concerning which of your needs and wants
are negotiable and which are not

If we cannot solve the conflicts ( 2 things), then we have to choose which is the priority. Which
value is more important?
So, the important value should be given as a priority to solve the conflicts.
Shelter, food , security and health are the most important in our life. So, we need to list some
values which are not important such as entertainment, vacation, leisure etc.

The objective of this strategy is to find another alternative to solve the conflicts.
We have to know the aims of the values but some values cannot be dissolved.
This strategy is an attempt to get rid from the problems or conflicts happens; but there are many
weaknesses in this strategy.
