Letter to My Friends
To who this may concern, (all of my friends in Prattville)
I may not live in Prattville anymore, but I still think about you guys all the time. I hope
that the recovery efforts for the twister in 2008 are done and over with! I know that it was all
very tough on all of us, including myself, but I hope it has made each of you stronger.
I know that some of you had your house destroyed during the storm. Others had their
friends house, a business, or their school demolished. I still remember helping out people
during the storm. I also remember being so upset about what the storm did to hurt my friends,
whether or not it was physical or mental. For me, it was a mental struggle. Even to this day, I
still remember what I felt like back during the aftermath of the storm. I also remember another
thing I saw: how a town came together to help out its fellow citizens. You guys may not know it,
but you are all a part of this recovery process. Whether or not each of you are affected directly
or indirectly by the tornado, you all have helped out the others who were.
Keep this spirit up. You guys can help each other out. Although the storm is gone, the
memories still exist. Thank you so much for being my friends, and I miss all of you dearly.
From,

Letter to Montgomery Advertiser
To Whom this May Concern,
My name is Shannon Sullivan. I was living in the town of Prattville on February 17
th
,
2008. As some of the workers may recall, that is when the town got struck by an EF-3 tornado at
3:15 PM, according to the article. I can recall my memories of the storm, which happened at a
different time than what was stated in the article.
I recall that where I used to live, in the Silver Hills community, the power went out
around 2:45 PM. From there, I cannot recall the time of events until around 4-4:30 PM. Around
there, my mom drove me around our development. I clearly remember that the power was also
out until later on that night or for a few days. These are a few thoughts that I remember.
Other than that, the information presented was very accurate. The tornado was rated at
an F-3 or an EF-3. The description presented of the outcome was amazing! When I first read the
article, all of these memories came back to me. I also remember seeing what had happened as a
result of the storm because of the article. Not just in the form of pictures, but in my mind too.
That was caused by me reading the papers article. Personally, I had no idea about what other
people were experiencing with this storm. I enjoyed reading about other peoples experience!
Overall, this article definitely struck a chord inside of me. I do not live in Prattville
anymore, but the memories will always be with me.
From,

Shannon Sullivan
