INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL ON QURANIC RESEARCH

(Centre of Quranic Research, University of Malaya)



An online peer-reviewed bi-annual journal that publishes research papers in the field of the Quran and
Quranic studies. Issued by the Centre of Quranic Research in University of Malaya.


JOURNAL OBJECTIVES:
1. To provide new academic contributions and perspectives to the field of Quranic research
through scholarly refereed articles and online publication.
2. To serve the Glorious Quran and its sciences through in-depth scientific research.
3. To enhance scholarly interactions between Quranic research and other branches of
science through internet and modern information technologies.
4. To develop research skills of experts in the field of Quranic studies to achieve an elegant
research methodology.
5. To encourage conducting Quranic research related to contemporary issues in order to
enhance fields of dawa (propagation), development and communication.


SCOPES OF THE JOURNAL:
1. In-depth scholarly Quranic research and new contributions based on a scientific academic
research methodology.
2. Investigating manuscripts related to the Quran and the Quranic studies to enrich
contemporary Quran libraries.
3. Publishing Research papers on modern applied sciences related to the Quran and Islamic
studies to represent scientific works.
4. Publishing Book reviews, conference reports, seminars and workshops related to the
Quran and Quranic studies.
5. Compiling specialized descriptive references and statistical bibliographies of new
publications including scientific research in the area of Quranic studies in the Arabic and
Islamic world.










RULES OF PUBLICATION:
1. Research papers may be submitted in any of these languages: (Arabic, Malay and English).
In addition, Researchers will submit another abstract in one of the journals languages.
2. Submitted papers should be in the field of the Quran and Quranic sciences as well as other
applied sciences related to Quranic studies. Papers should correspond to the journals
objectives and scope.
3. Researchers should follow the academic style of writing using well written language and
punctuation marks.
4. Papers should not have been published before or presented for publication in other journals
or publications. Papers will not be returned either published or not.
5. All required academic writing, scientific, financial and legal requirements should be made.

PUBLICATION GUIDELINES:
First: Academic Writing Guidelines
1. Malay and English research papers should be submitted in (MS Word), font type (Times
New Roman), size (11) for body text and (9) for footnotes, single-spaced. Research papers
should not exceed 30 pages.
2. Citations are preferably made in text. However, if not, citations should be listed at the bottom
of each page as a footnote. Citations should start with the authors name, year of publication,
title of the book, place of publication, volume (if any) and the page number (preceded by
p.). If a reference is used more than once, there is no need to repeat all the information just
write (ibid.) followed by page number. Citations should be fully mentioned in the references
section.
3. Quranic verses should be written according to Madinahs Quran script (i.e., Othmani script),
between double parentheses. The name of the surah and the number of the ayah should be
referred to within the text and not as a footnote. For example: (al-Baqarah: 87).
4. References of Hadith are placed in the footnote with the verification of the Hadith, in
addition to the books name, volume, chapter, page and Hadith number.
5. References are written at the end of the paper in alphabetical order starting with the authors
name.
Second: Content Guidelines
1. A precise topic that corresponds to the theme of the research paper. Research terms should be
defined in the introduction.
2. Researchers should state the reason behind conducting this study, pointing out the new areas
of the research, its objectives, significance, methodology, problem statement and previous
studies of the area.
3. Research papers should be written in an academic style.
4. The conclusion of the paper should include a precise summary of the research, main results
contributed by the study and main recommendations of research area.
5. A curriculum vitae (CV) of the researcher, including his/her current job and contact
information, should be attached along with the summary of the paper.
