Introduction

Advancing technology is rapidly changing

education systems throughout the world.
Teachers are having to respond to these
advancing forms of technology and use
the resources available to them to change
the way the present content and relate to
students.
Statement #1
Many of the technological advancements in
education have proven to directly benefit the
student as an individual, as teachers are now able
to use electronic forms of assessment and
databases to track the progress of students and
quickly identify at-risk students and provide them
with attention and resources that will help them
to be successful. Advancements in technology are
allowing teachers to be more informed about the
progress of their students and students to receive
the feedback and support they need.

Statement #2
Many forms of technology being incorporated
into education are meeting the needs of
todays adolescents as they are building on
resources that are familiar to them such as the
cell phone, digital books, and educational
games for the ipad or ipod. These innovative
resources allow students to remain engaged
as they absorb content or complete
assessment in an interactive way.

Statement #3
Because of the technological resources we
now use in the classroom and expect students
to use such as Google Docs, Facebook, ipads,
Digital Books etc., it has become part of our
role as educators to teach digital citizenship to
prevent issues such as plagiarism, cyber
bullying, and copyright infringement.

Do not train a child to learn by force or harshness; but
direct them to it by what amuses their minds, so that
you may be better able to discover with accuracy the
peculiar bent of the genius of each.
-Plato
Let us think of education as the means of developing
our greatest abilities, because in each of us there is a
private hope and dream which, fulfilled, can be
translated into benefit for everyone and greater
strength for our nation.
-John F. Kennedy
The task of the modern educator is not to cut down
jungles, but to irrigate deserts.
-C.S. Lewis

Personal Learning Goals
My two learning goals for this program are to
gain knowledge of new forms of technology
that I can use in my classroom and to gain
specific knowledge about the ipad and apps
for the ipad. I believe that by accomplishing
both of these goals, I will become a stronger
educator and I will be able to meet the needs
of a larger range of students.
Conclusion
I believe that incorporating technology into my
classroom will help me to better understand the
needs of students of all learning styles. Though
technology has proven to be a way to allow
students to engage with content, it comes with its
challenges. Using technology in my classroom
also means teaching students to be responsible
as they use different resources in the classroom. I
believe that, when used effectively, technology
can enhance student learning and allow teachers
a means to meet the needs of all students.
