Research
Area of scholarship is European (Continental) Philosophy with a particular interest in
Aesthetics and Cultural Studies. PhD conferred September, 2005 at the University of
Limerick. The dissertaion, Art and Difficulty in the Modern World, focuses on the
concepts of Adorno, Ricoeur, and other contemporary theorists. These theories are
applied to diverse modes of popular culture, including narrative, dance, and film.
Worked as part of a team under the auspice of Dr. Murphy of Hofstra University,
Long Island, New York, in designing a curriculum on the Great Irish Famine for the
New York State Department of Education. A copy of this curriculum can be viewed on
