We celebrate our diversity, seeking to realize the gifts of each member of our parish, as we are all joined together under one faith, in a spiritual journey of evangelization, service to others, and a reverence for all life. In the Eucharist, we find new life, and bring this life to others through stewardship, education, and worship.

I consider share the faith, pass it on from one generation to the next my motto and as parents, you play a big role in that process. A note of gratitude goes to Sherry Rochford our director of children and teen faith and service formation. It has been a joy to serve with Sherry over my time here at Christ the King. I would also like to thank all the catechists, help- ers and volunteers who served with Sherry.

May 25, 2014 Year of Grace 2013-2014 Page 5 Reflecting on Gods Word The head nurse had called Mary Beth in desperation. The patient in 207 cant talk because of her throat cancer surgery. She is so agitated by her daughters that Im concerned about her recovery. They fight over everything from what treatment she should re- ceive to where she should go when we release her from the hospital. Help! Mary Beth had done pas- toral care in the hospital long enough to have gotten a reputation with the nursing staff for her healing pres- ence. She was only in the room ten minutes before the patient was calm and smiling, and the sisters had agreed to sit down with a social worker to discuss their options. In todays first reading we see the Holy Spirit at work in Philip, Peter, and John. They are living proof that Jesus healing presence lives in them. With words, prayer, and touch they communicate the Spirit that unites the crowds, heals the sick, and brings the Sa- maritans to life in the Spirit. Looking back at previ- ous Easter readings from the Acts of the Apostles, we can see that now all the believers in the ancient world are united in the SpiritJews in Jerusalem, Hellenist Greek-speaking Jews, Gentiles, and now Samaritans. They are cured of their divisions and united in har- mony through the healing presence of the Holy Spirit. Alleluia! ~ Virginia Stillwell Copyright 2013, World Library Publications. Fr. Jeff Stoneberg begins his pastorate at Christ the King on Saturday/Sunday, June 21/22.
Fr. Peter Jarosz begins his new pastorate at St. Ann, Channahon, on the Feast of Corpus Christi , June 21/22, when all new assign- ments begin in the Diocese of Joliet.
Fr. Peter will be installed as the new Pastor of St Ann, Channahon, by Bishop Conlon on Saturday June 21 st , at 5:00 p.m. To my parish family,
As I announced last weekend, after much prayer, I have accepted a position at another parish in our Diocese and will be leaving Christ the King on June 8, 2014.
Christ the King Parish has been my home for over 25 years. It has truly been a privilege to be part of this parish community for so long. Many of my colleagues have asked how I can stay at one parish for so long, and my answer has always been the same: I love the people. You have been part of my extended family for the majority of my life.
As with any major change in ones life, there are moments of joy and moments of sadness. It was not easy, but I truly believe that the Holy Spirit was with me when I made this decision.
Thank you for letting me be part of your lives.
With Sincerest Gratitude,
Bill Runge
From Fr. Peter and Staff
Over those years Bill has shared his gifts of time and talent with the parish of CTK and other local parishes in the diocese. Bills planning and working with staff to produce beautiful, prayerful liturgies and prayer opportunities will be missed. From planning Advent, Lent, Ordinary Time and the Christmas seasons that assisted us in our prayer life. The leading, teaching organizing of the liturgical ministries music groups from children to adults. Bill made possible with Gods help to invite and work with young instrumen- talists to enhance our liturgies. He has shared his love for liturgy and music which increased full active par- ticipation at Mass. The funeral choir has assisted the bereaved and ministries of consoling who have brought the presence of Christ. Just a few of the many things accomplished for this we are grateful Bill. We wish you well at your new parish in the dio- cese and will miss your smile and your gift of music.

This month of May has been very special to us as we have devoted prayer and activities to Mary the mother of Jesus! We have prayed decades of the rosary, talked about Mary as a child and mother of Jesus, and had a beautiful May Crowning! Teachers are busy with assessment of their students and gearing up for our Summer Day Camp! Mrs. Placey has been giving tours of our Academy, registering new students for next year and preparing end of the year reports. If you would like a tour and have any questions about enrolling for Kindergarten or Preschool please call the Academy office at 630-627-0640. Have a blessed summer, The Academy Staff May is here and our school year will end soon. The children are having so much outside on the new play ground equipment, watching the woods turning green, smelling the grass when it gets cut and taking our coats off because its warm outside. We have had a wonderful year learning about the Holy Family, Christmas, Bible stories, Lent and Easter. Our families have sup- ported our school, church and donation requests for many projects that help others in need. Thank you for all you have done to enrich your child's world and ours too. The last few weeks we will be exploring the physical world that's waking up around us - butterflies, bugs, worms, plants, water, fish, and pirates! Be sure to sign up to help with the garage sale. It's a lot of fun and you never know what treasures you'll find. Have a safe, fun and healthy summer! Thank you for sharing your children with us. They are our sunshine. Mrs Hanisch and Mrs Waas

Page 10 Year of Grace 2013-2014 May 25, 2014 A STEWARDSHIP MOMENT In todays gospel we go back in time to listen to Jesus as he gives instructions at the Last Supper. His words speak to all of us as he is preparing us to be sent out into the world to proclaim his Good News. The gift of the Holy Spirit is poured out upon the entire community of faith to do this work, not just a few. No one is to be excluded. Are we inclusive of everyone in our community? Are there those we choose to exclude because we dont like them? In the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ, what do we intend to do about it? May 10 & 11 STEWARDSHIP OF TREASURE

Grant Received from Northern Illinois Food Bank St. Vincent De Paul Food Pantry at Christ the King Par- ish applied for a grant from Northern Illinois Food Bank. The grant we were awarded will be used towards the purchase a refrigerator similar to the one in the PLC. We have found one we like but we are still shopping to see if we can better the price. We will place the new re- frigerator in the East Room, after we have an electrician evaluate our electrical needs for the unit. SVDP receives generous donations of produce and sometimes dairy on Saturdays from Jewel. We often do not have enough refrigerator space to keep the produce until Monday when we are open to help our clients. Our volunteers frequently have to store produce in their homes and bring it back on Monday for distribution. In the summer this becomes problematic. We are looking forward to having adequate space for our needs. With this grant, we should be able to purchase an industrial type refrigerator using only a nominal amount of our SVDP funds. We are grateful to our parishioners for your on-going support. The Volunteers at SVDP at CTK Parish STEWARDSHIP OF TIME
