Comments and suaaestions for the Author(s)
The authors investigate an important problem that concerns to bridges' construction and managing problems.
The performed study aims at numerical modeling of the segmental bridge . The findings are based on coupled
analysis of experimental observations and numerical simulation results . The presen tation is clear and sound
with good writing style. In the reviewer's opinion, the manuscript can be accepted for publication in the
Proceedings of ASEM1 1+ Congress after performing the corrections listed below.
The required correction list
1) The sixth line of the Abstract . Due to three last sentences of the Abstract contain term "in-situ stitches", it is
recommended in the sentence "The tuli-renqe responses of in-situ stitches under combined ... " instead of "in-situ
stitches" using "these joints " or "these connections".
2) The last senten ce of the first paragraph in Section 2. The term "characteristic compressi ve strength " is used.
Do the authors consider the 5-percentile of the probabilistic distribution of the compressive strength? If not, the
terms "mean compressive strength " or "compressive strength " should be introduced.
3) The paragraph before Equation ( 1). The authors are stated that "The compressi ve strength of concrete is
directly obtained from standard concrete cube compression tests ... " But the constitutive equations both in the
Eurocode 2 and in the Model Code 90 are based on the cylinder compressive strength fcyl, which almost 1.25
times lesser than the standard cube (150 mm) strength. Moreover, the tensile strength of concrete [see
Equation (2)] is determined using the characteristic strength fck = fcyl - 8 [MPaj. The corrections in the text
should be performed taking into consideration the above notice
4) The paragraph before Equation (2) The reference "CEB-FIP Model Code " should be referred as "CEB-FIB
Model Code (1990)".
5) Section 3.3. The often-used term "load-deflection" response or relation should be explained. Actually, it is
impossible to understand what deflection was considered.
6) The fifth line of the last paragraph in the Conclusions. Conclusions must be understandable without referring
the text. Therefore , the term "end of Stage 2" should be explained or rejected.
