NARRATIVE REPORT
Division Mass Training on K-12 Basic Education Program for Grade III Teachers
May 13-17, 2014


The participants of the training were the grade III teachers of the 3 districts namely, Naawan,
Manticao and Lugait, which as held at Rosewood Park and Grill , Naawan, Misamis Oriental.

May 13, 2014 was the first day of our training where we meet the speakers, teachers, some
administrators of three (3) districts. The program was opened at 8:00 in the morning and the lecture
followed. The first speaker was Ms. Ma. Fidela Salvador. She asked our own ideas about K-12
Curriculum, the expectations o happen after this training and the preparations we did before this
training. Then she started discussing what kind of learners and teacher in the 21
st
century. She also
discussed what should teachers do in order that they may become effective, knowledgeable and skillful
in the implementations of this curriculum. She also talked about assessment of pupils and the skill to be
developed in the learners and the standards we should follow to help the pupils become holistic
individual. Then Curriculum guides, teachers guides and Learners Materials were distributed to us. She
let us scanned over the competencies and other things found in it. She also let us look over the teachers
guides and learners materials. The teachers then were group into 5 so that there should be sharing and
exchanging of ideas in doing the activities.

In the afternoon, Ms. DyhonnaleAlerin was the speaker. She presented and discussed the
AralingPanlipunan Curriculum. She talked about the four skills specified and to be developed in the
learners in this curriculum and the weight for each skill like knowledge 15%, process 24%, understanding
30% and Product Performance 30%. She also discussed what kind of assessment and approaches or
strategies should teachers use and tried to compare the assessment in the BEC Curriculum and in the k-
12 Program. She also discussed about grading system and the Rubrics. Then group activities were given
to us.

On the second day, May 14, 2014, still Ms. DyhonnaleAlerin was the first speaker. She discussed
the Conceptual Framework of the Math Curriculum. She talked about the learning theories, strategies to
be applied and skills to be developed in math. She also categorized the skills as knowledge, as process,
understanding and performance. She let us describe the literacy of domains as specific to complex or in
spiral progression. She discussed. She discussed the objectives and standards in the math curriculum
and the three (3) languages we can use such Mother Tongue as Language 1 , Filipino as L2 , and English
as L3.

The next speaker was Ms. Aileen Dabon. She discussed the conceptual framework of the English
Curriculum, the competencies, performance standards and assessment and strategies to be used in
developing the skills of pupils. Then group activity was given to us.
In the afternoon, Mr. Rey Magan was the speaker. He discussed the Music Curriculum and the
competencies to be taught. He also talked the elements of Music. He let us sang a native song
AkongManok with the basic notes and how to follow the rhythm of the song. He also discussed basic
fundamental process I the K-12 Music Curriculum.

Then Ms. Aileen Dabon was the last speaker on that day. She discussed the Fundamental
Framework of PE in the K-12 Program. She talked about the fundamental skills to be develop in the
pupils, the objectives and preparations before introducing a skill.

On the third day, Thursday was started by a prayer, checking of attendance, recap and freezing
and introduction of the speaker. Mrs. BeatrizeAcdal discussed about English Curriculum. She talked
about competency framework performance standard strategies and assessmence. She also talked about
bridging, language 1 to language 3.

In the afternoon session, Sir Rey magan discussed about Science curriculum. She talked about
the framework, competencies, performance standards, strategies and assessmence. It was followed by
the discussion of Ms.Fidela Salvador to discussed the health curriculum.

On the fourth day, Friday was started by a prayer and freezing and checking of attendance.
Ms.Fidela Salvador discussed about EdukasyonsaPagpapakatao curriculum. It was followed by
Ms.BeatrizeAcdal to discussed about the Filipino curriculum. She talked about framework,
competencies, performance standards, strategies and assessmence.

In the afternoon, Ms. DjhonnaleAleria, discussed about arts curriculum. She talked about
theories, performance standards, practices, creative exploration of art materials, concepts and
processes found in the Philippines. Group activities were given 2 participants.

On the fifth day, Saturday was started by a prayer, checking of attendance. Then it was followed
by the presentation and critiquing of outputs. Then followed by a message of our secretary of education
Bro. Armin Luistro through the VTR. Then his Undersecretary gave also a message about the K-12
curriculum.

In the afternoon session, wasthe closing program and the distribution of the certificates of
participation. Then a joined hands mass singing was rendered by the participants.
