-Use of specific details
-Thoughtfulness. Time taken to reflect
-Construction and organization of thoughts. Did you communicate effectively?

QUESTIONS
1. Describe 3 different dialog windows that you used. Include the name of the dialog window, and
at least 2 details of HOW you used it.
Three dialog windows I used in Gimp are:
Gradients: To add color/pattern over images
Colors: To pick the colors that I wished to use
Layers: To create and separate particular things on different layers and organize them
2. Describe 3 different tools that you used to make a selection in GIMP. List them and describe HOW you
used them. Which one did you use the most and WHY?
Three tools I used to make selections in Gimp are:
Free Select Tool: To outline and decide exactly what I needed to change
Ellipse Select Tool: To choose circles and larger selections faster
Fuzzy Select Tool: To choose by color making the process a tad bit faster
The Select Tool that I used the most was the Free Select Tool. This is because I found it easier and I
felt that I had better control on the outcome.

3. Describe 3 different ways to adjust the color and/or contrast, lightness of an image in GIMP.
Three different ways to adjust the color/contrast/lighting of an image in Gimp are:
Use a select tool and isolate the desired area and use the Burn Tool which lightens things
Go to the Color window at the top and go to brightness and contrast and change the levels
by moving the points on the lines
Go to the Layer box and find the Mode section and you can pick different modes such
as, normal, divide, difference, etc.
4. Describe a project that used TEXT in two different ways. Describe the basic techniques used.
BE SPECIFIC.
A project that used text in two different ways is the Inspiration Project. For my project I chose
Frank Sinatra. The first set of wording was a famous quote about religion that he said and I typed in
over a large picture of him; which was the background. After typing it I changed the opacity so that
it was visible but it was not the subject. The second set of wording was the word, Voice. I typed
this in a different font, hollowed the letters and placed multiple pictures of Sinatra so that the letters
were shaped by the photos. This part had the opacity of %100 because it was the focus of the
composition.
5. Describe 2 different projects/lessons where we used GIMP to simulate camera techniques. Name
the project AND how it simulated what can be done with a camera (an SLR).
Two projects we used Gimp for that simulated actions that could be used in a camera are our
Meatyard project and our Image Swap project. The Meatyard project displayed movement
which we used multiple pictures and layers, along with the blur tool, to create. A camera can
produce an image displaying movement by changing settings with the shutter speed and aperture.
The Image Swap project we placed random things on a background, trying to create and image.
Although not all were realistic, they werent much of animations. Photographs display images that
are already set up.

6. Which project was your favorite? WHY? What skills, tools, and techniques did you use?
My favorite project was the 11 Days. This is because, I dont enjoy taking photos of myself or
having my photo taken and although this was a huge part of the project, I got to change them and
be creative. I Used gimp to add textures, gradients, patterns and etc. I found it fun and there
wasnt a step by step manual making it more free for me to be creative and try new things.
