Summary of Texts to Use in K-6 English

The table below is a list of suggested texts for use in teaching K-6 English. It is by no means exhaustive and schools/
teachers should add their own text preferences to build onto this document.
The stages for use are just a suggestion and are not intended to be used in a prescriptive manner or to scope and
sequence texts. Regardless of the stage indicated, it may be appropriate to expose students to a text as part of
another unit of study in a different stage. It should also be remembered that as teachers are teaching to the
outcomes of the English syllabus, the one text will not be treated in the same way in different stages, also individual
teachers bring differing perspectives to text.
