This mainboard has a So#$et%4&8 support for I'tel (e'ti)*4
processors with front+side bus 9F$B: speeds up to 400 M+,.
This mainboard has the I'tel 845 chipset that contains Intel
0&0(B Memory )ontroller @ub and Intel 0&036B" I%- )ontroller
@ub. It supports AC 9& ")dio #ode# and provides -ltr" MA
55%CC%100 function. This mainboard has five 5&+bit #)I, one
(.A/( and one C0R 9)ommunications and 2etwor'ing 4iser:
slot. There is a full set of I%- ports including two #$%& ports for
mouse and 'eyboard, two serial ports, one parallel port, one
MI,I%game port and ma8imum si8 >$B ports. By means of the
18tended >$B Module connected to the mainboard, you can ma'e
ma8imum four e8tra >$B ports.
This mainboard is an A12 mainboard that uses a (+layer printed

Installing te Processor
This mainboard has a $oc'et (D0 processor soc'et. .hen choosing
a processor, consider the performance reGuirements of the system.
#erformance is based on the processor design, the cloc' speed and
system bus freGuency of the processor, and the Guantity of internal
cache memory and e8ternal cache memory.
CPU Installation Procedure
Follow these instructions to install the )#>?
6. >nhoo' the )#> soc'et7s loc'ing lever by pulling
it away from soc'et and raising it to the upright
position.
&. Match the pin 6 corner of )#> soc'et to the one of
processor, and insert the processor into the soc'et.
,o not use force.
5. #ush the loc'ing lever down and hoo' it under the
latch on the edge of soc'et.
(. "pply thermal grease to the top of the )#>.
B. ;ower the )#> fan%heatsin' unit onto the )#> and
)#> soc'et, and then use the retention module
clamps to snap the fan%heatsin' into place.
C. #lug the )#> fan power cable into the )#>
cooling fan power supply connector on the
mainboard.

Installing Memory Modules
This mainboard accommodates 6C0+pin 5.5%60(+pin &.B
unbuffered $,4"M memory modules. The memory chips must be
standard or registered $,4"M 9$ynchronous ,ynamic 4andom
"ccess Memory:.
The )#> supports 633M@I system bus. The $,4"M ,IMMs
and ,,4s can synchronously wor' with 633 M@I or operates over
a 655 M@I memory bus.
Fou must install at least one memory module in order to use
the mainboard, either SRAM or R SRAM, 8)t yo)
#"''ot )se the* si*)lt"'eo)sly.
Note: Please be noted you must set up the correct jumper settings
(JP1 and JT1~JT10) as described in page 13 o this chapter!
$,4"M provides 033 MB%s or 6 !B%s data transfer rate
corresponding with the bus 633 M@I or 655 M@I. It doubles the
rate to 6.C !B%s and &.6 !B%s by transferring data on both the
rising and falling edges of the cloc'. ,,4 $,4"M uses additional
power and ground lines and reGuires 60(+pin &.B unbuffered
,IMM module rather than the 6C0+pin 5.5 unbuffered ,IMMs
used by $,4"M.

Installation Procedure
The mainboard accommodates two memory modules. Fou must
install at least one module in any of the three slots. 1ach module
can be installed with up to & !B system memory.
4efer to the following to install the memory modules.
6. #ush the latches on each side of the ,IMM slot
down.
&. "lign the memory module with the slot. The
,IMM slots are 'eyed with notches and the
,IMMs are 'eyed with cutouts so that they can
only be installed correctly.
5. )hec' that the cutouts on the ,IMM module edge
connector match the notches in the ,IMM slot.
(. Install the ,IMM module into the slot and press it
firmly down until it seats correctly. The slot latches
are levered upwards and latch on to the edges of the
,IMM.
B. Install any remaining ,IMM modules.

Install te Mainboard
Install the mainboard in a system chassis 9case:. The board is an
"T* siIe mainboard with a twin+tier of I%- ports. Fou can install
this mainboard in an "T* case. 1nsure that your case has an I%-
cover plate that matches the ports on this mainboard.
Install the mainboard in a case. Follow the instructions provided by
the case manufacturer using the hardware and internal mounting
points on the chassis.
)onnect the power connector from the power supply to the A121
connector on the mainboard.
If there is a cooling fan installed in the system chassis, connect the
cable from the cooling fan to the C+S >A0 fan power connector
on the mainboard.
)onnect the cable from the #) spea'er to the S(<R1 header on

Install and connect any other devices in the system following the
steps below.

The mainboard ships with a floppy dis' drive cable that can
support one or two drives. ,rives can be 5.B= or B.&B= wide, with
capacities of 5C3A, D&3A, 6.&MB, 6.((MB, or &.00MB.
Install your drives and connect power from the system power
supply. >se the cable provided to connect the drives to the floppy
dis' drive connector >5;((?.

I,1 devices include hard dis' drives, high+density dis'ette drives,
and ),+4-M or ,,+4-M drives, among others.
The mainboard ships with an I,1 cable that can support one or
two I,1 devices. If you connect two devices to a single cable, you
must configure one of the drives as Master and one of the drives as
$lave. The documentation of the I,1 device will tell you how to
configure the device as a Master or $lave device. The Master
device connects to the end of the cable.
Install the device9s: and connect power from the system power
supply. >se the cable provided to connect the device9s: to the
#rimary I,1 channel connector I41 on the mainboard.

If you want to install more I,1 devices, you can purchase a second
I,1 cable and connect one or two devices to the $econdary I,1
channel connector I42 on the mainboard. If you have two
devices on the cable, one must be Master and one must be $lave.
Internal Sound Connections
If you have installed a ),+4-M drive or ,,+4-M drive, you
can connect the drive audio cable to the onboard sound system.
-n the mainboard, locate the two (+pin connectors C1 and C2.
There are two 'inds of connector because different brands of ),+
4-M drive have different 'inds of audio cable connectors.
)onnect the cable to the appropriate connector.

card to plug into the mainboard .-;6 connector. This enables the
.a'e -n ;"2 9.-;6: feature. .hen your system is in a power+
saving mode, any ;"2 signal automatically resumes the system.

Infrared Port
Fou can connect an infrared port to the mainboard. Fou can
purchase this option from third+party vendors.

&. If you are adding an infrared port, connect the ribbon cable
from the port to the I4 header and then secure the port to an
appropriate place in your system chassis.

E"pansion Slots
This mainboard has one "!#, one )24 and five 5&+bit #)I slots.
Follow the steps below to install an "!#%)24%#)I e8pansion
card.
6. ;ocate the "!#, )24 or #)I slots on the mainboard.
&. 4emove the slot cover for this slot from the system chassis.
5. Insert the e8pansion card edge connector into the slot and press
it firmly down into it so that it is fully inserted.
(. $ecure the e8pansion card brac'et to the system chassis using
the screw that held the slot cover in place.
PCI Slots
Fou can install 5&+bit #)I interface e8pansion cards in #)I slots.
$lot6 only supports #)B $lave mode. It is recommended you give
first priority to #)I 6J( slots while inserting cards.
4& #6P Slot
The (8 "!# slot is used to install a graphics adapter that supports
the (8"!# specification and has a (8 "!# edge connector.
The (8 "!# slot only supports 6.B (8 "!# card.

,I'S Setu" Utilit!
Introduction
The BI-$ $etup >tility records settings and information of your
computer, such as date and time, the type of hardware installed,
and various configuration settings. Four computer applies those
information to initialiIe all the components when booting up and
basic functions of coordination between system components.
If the $etup >tility configuration is incorrect, it may cause the
system to malfunction. It can even stop your computer booting
properly. If it happens, you can use the clear )M-$ jumper to
clear the )M-$ memory which has stored the configuration
information; or you can hold down the ("ge -p 'ey while
rebooting your computer. @olding down the ("ge -p 'ey also
clears the setup information.
Fou can run the setup utility and manually change the
configuration. Fou might need to do this to configure some
hardware installed in or connected to the mainboard, such as the
)#>, system memory, dis' drives, etc.

the main menu page. #ress 4'ter to select the highlighted option.

Shi@t 'ey and press >2 to cycle through the $etup >tility7s optional
color schemes.
$ome options on the main menu page lead to tables of items with
installed values that you can use cursor arrow 'eys to highlight one
item, and press (g-p and (g' 'eys to cycle through alternative
values of that item. The other options on the main menu page lead
to dialog bo8es that reGuire your answer Fes or 2o by hitting the ?
or 0 'eys.
If you have already changed the setup utility, press >10 to save
those changes and e8it the utility. #ress >5 to reset the changes to
the original values. #ress >A to install the setup utility with a set of
default values. #ress >& to install the setup utility with a set of
high+performance values.

If you select this item and press 4'ter a dialog bo8 appears. If you
press ?, and then 4'ter, the $etup >tility loads a set of fail+safe
default values. These default values are not very demanding and
they should allow your system to function with most 'inds of
hardware and memory chips.
Note : +t is highly recommend that users enter this option to load
optimal ,alues or accessing the best perormance!

performance default values. These default values are Guite
demanding and your system might not function properly if you are

enter no more than si8 letters or numbers. #ress 1nter after
you have typed in the password. There will be the second
dialog bo8 as'ing you to retype the password for
confirmation. #ress 1nter after you have retyped it
correctly. Then, the password is reGuired for the access to
the $etup >tility or for it at start+up, depending on the
setting of the #assword )hec' item in "dvanced $etup.

Soft4are = #""lications
Introduction
This chapter describes the contents of the support ),+4-M that
comes with the mainboard pac'age.
The support ),+4-M contains all useful software, necessary
drivers and utility programs to properly run our products. More
program information is available in a 41",M1 file, located in the
same directory as the software.
To run the support ),, simply insert the ), into your ),+4-M
drive. "n "uto $etup screen automatically pops out, and then you
can go on the auto+installing or manual installation depending on
your operating system.
If your operating system is .indows /0%M1%&333%*#, it will
automatically install all the drivers and utilities for your
mainboard; if .indows 2T or manual installation, please follow
the instructions described as the Installing under .indows 2T
or Manual Installation section.

Installing Support So+t)are
6.Insert the support ),+4-M disc in the ),+4-M drive.
&..hen you insert the ),+4-M disc in the system ),+4-M
drive, the ), automatically displays an "uto $etup screen.
5.The screen displays three buttons of Set)p, 3ro=se C and 4.it
on the right side, and three others Set)p, Appli#"tio' and
Re"dMe at the bottom. #lease see the following illustration.
The Set)p button runs the software auto+installing program as
e8plained in ne8t section.
The 3ro=se C button is a standard .indows command that you
can chec' the contents of the disc with the .indows /0 file
browsing interface.
The 4.it button closes the "uto $etup window. To run the
program again, reinsert the ),+4-M disc in the drive; or clic' the
),+4-M driver from the .indows 18plorer, and clic' the $etup
icon.
The Appli#"tio' button brings up a software menu. It shows the
bundled software that this mainboard supports.
The Re"dMe brings you to the Install #ath where you can find out
path names of software driver.

proceed.
5. The support software will automatically install.
-nce any of the installation procedures start, software is
automatically installed in seGuence. Fou need to follow the
onscreen instructions, confirm commands and allow the computer
to restart as few times as needed to complete installing whatever
software you selected. .hen the process is finished, all the support
software will be installed and start wor'ing.

wor' out; or you have to do the manual installation, please follow
this procedure while the "uto $etup screen pops out after inserting

Install #ath at the bottom of the screen.
&. Find out your mainboard model name and clic' on it to obtain
its correct driver directory.
5. Install each software in accordance with the corresponding
driver path.
