 CORPORATE PROFILE

Hutchison established its presence in India in 1994, through a joint venture with Max

India Limited. In 1995, Hutchison Max Telecom became the first operator in India to

launch its cellular service.

Today, Hutchison is the one of the largest providers of cellular services in India with

presence in all the major regions - Orange in Mumbai and Hutch in Delhi, Karnataka,

Andhra Pradesh, Chennai, Kolkata, Gujarat, Haryana, Rajasthan, UP (E), UP (W), Rest

of Bengal and Punjab.

It is also the country's largest roaming operator, with a more extensive network in India

and around the world than any other operator.

It is part of the Hong Kong based multinational conglomerate Hutchison Whampoa

Limited, a Fortune 500 company, and one of the largest companies listed on the Hong

Kong Stock Exchange. Its operations span 42 countries across the Asia Pacific region,

Europe and the Americas.

Hutchison affiliates jointly account for the largest number of cellular subscribers in India

numbering over 7.6 million.

HUTCH GPRS

Hutchison Essar affiliated companies in India have announced the launch of a wide range

of GPRS services simultaneously across all Hutch networks covering Mumbai, Delhi,

Kolkata, Chennai, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. In one of the fastest ever

deployments of a GPRS network anywhere in the world, a number of breakthroughs in

the areas of technology, applications and content have been achieved. Star among them,

at the very leading edge of global technology, is the Cricket World Cup video service

exclusively on the Hutch GPRS phones.

In a countrywide deployment, the Hutch GPRS service - HutchWorld - will be available

to all Hutch subscribers in India including those in upstate towns in the state circles of

Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. The other unique feature is roaming. Hutch

subscribers will be, for instance, able to receive a video clip of cricket highlights even

while roaming in any Hutch network.

Phones capable of receiving and replaying video clips are also just becoming available in

the global market. The Ericsson P800, which is one of the first phones capable of video

replays, is available at Hutch Shops across the country. Alternatively, consumers who

have more readily available and lower price MMS enabled GPRS phones will be able to

receive progressive stills of the World Cup on their phones.

Another GPRS service expected to be widely used is photo messaging using MMS.

Consumers with camera phones will be able to take pictures and send them to any MMS
enabled phone on the Hutch national network or indeed to an e-mail ID anywhere in the

world. Not just that, consumers will also be able to add a text or voice clip to the photo

message and for those recipients who do not have a GPRS phone the service still works

by sending an SMS prompt to the recipient advising him to access the MMS message

through the conventional internet.

Fully operable e-mail service is another valuable feature. Hutch has exclusive tie-ups

with MSN Hotmail to offer e-mail services on the phone to its consumers. Yahoo mail

and MSN Messenger are also available. The advantage of e-mail on the GPRS network is

that e-mail is in a format similar to its familiar PC version.

Hi-end Java games will be available to subscribers on the mobile phones. These games

are among the most advanced and sophisticated available to any mobile subscriber

internationally.

Other services available on the portal cover news, astrology and entertainment including

a wide range of polyphonic ringtones.

Hutch GPRS services will be available at a basic subscription of Rs 249 per month which

is being offered at a special introductory price of Rs 99 till March 31, 2003. The World

Cup video clips and progressive stills can be received for only Rs 99 right till the end of

the tournament.
Ghosh said, "This adds a new dimension to communication. We've moved things to a

new plane by bringing action to the user's fingertips. This is absolutely world class and

all made available at the same time across the country."

Hutch brings you Caller Tunes.

Play popular songs for as many friends as you like. Choose your song from International

hits, whacky sounds to pure instrumental, and more. Better still, record your own voice

and play it for your friends.

You can either set one common tune for all or customize a tune for individual callers.

Each category has many tunes to choose from. You can even shuffle your tunes or record

your own voice. What's more, these tunes will keep changing from time to time. So you

have a whole host of options to choose from.

Just dial 123 and say 'caller tunes' and select your favourite tune.

ITEMISED BILLING
As a Hutch Postpaid customer, you can choose to receive an itemised bill at the end of each

month. This is a detailed billing statement which helps you keep track of all your calls. Your

itemised bill includes:

 Toll charges

 Airtime and total charge

 Via post: Pay a monthly rental of 49 only.

 Via e-mail: Pay just Rs. 19 per itemised bill.

How to activate

Dial 600 (toll free) from your Hutch phone and follow the Interactive Voice Recording (IVR)

system instructions to activate the service. A confirmatory SMS will be sent to you on service

activation.

You can also fill up the Service Enrolment Form and mail/fax it to the address/number

mentioned in the form.

RINGTONES AND LOGOS
Now you can change the ringtone on your Hutch phone according to your moods. You can

download logos as well. With the Hutch and Yahoo! tieup you have hundreds of tunes and

logos to choose from.

Type TOP TUNE and send it to 8243.

To download logos

Type TOP LOGO and send it to 8243.

You can choose from the top 10 tunes and logos - which you receive as SMS along with the

download codes.

For every ringtone downloaded, you will charged Rs. 7.00 (including the cost of SMS sent).

For every logo/picture message downloaded, you will charged Rs. 3.00 (including the cost of

SMS sent).

Get all the useful information you need directly on your Hutch phone - with Hutch Online.

Including cricket, finance, entertainment, weather, astrology and more.

 Simply go to the Hutch Online menu on your Hutch phone.

If you do not see the Hutch Online menu on your phone, send HELP to 123.

We will send you the list of keywords.

 Scroll to the topic on which you need information.

 Select the information and key input as requested on the screen.

You will be charged Rs. 2 per outgoing message. Incoming messages are free.

You will get the information in the form of a text message. Please remember to set the

UNIFIED MESSAGING SERVICE
Life becomes simpler and convenient with Hutch with Unified Messaging Service (UMS).

This is a one of its kind service launched for the first time in India by Hutch. With UMS, you

can get unlimited access to emails, faxes and voicemails through your Hutch phone, anywhere

and anytime.

This unique service comes with the following features

Text-to-speech Hear your emails on your Hutch phone, from

conversion anywhere in the world - with text-to-speech

How to activate UMS
 Just dial 111 (toll free) from your Hutch phone and a Hutch Care Executive will

activate UMS for you.

 To receive faxes, you need to subscribe to the facility of Fax, wherein you would be

allocated a different Hutch number for receiving fax.

 You can get a Hutch fax number by paying a one-time activation cost of Rs. 250. If

you already have a Hutch fax number, you will need to provide the same to the Hutch

Care Executive.
 After the activation of the fax facility, divert your fax calls to +91996.

How to use UMS

First divert your voice calls to +91999. You can do this by going to the Call Divert option in

the menu of the handset. You would also need to divert all your fax calls to +91996.

To access UMS from a phone

Dial 131 from your Hutch phone or by dialing 9811198111 from any other phone (landline &

mobile).

To access UMS from Internet:

Your default password will be provided by the Hutch Care executive. You can change your

password after you log in.

How to receive faxes on your Hutch phone

After the activation of fax facility, divert your fax calls to +91996. Others can send you faxes

at your Hutch fax number and you can receive the fax via your handset or via the website.
How to receive e-mails on your mobile

Your e-mail ID would be number@ums.hutch.delhi.co.in. When you receive an email, you

will be notified through an SMS on your mobile. You can either choose to listen to e-mails by

dialing 131.

What is the capacity of UMS

UMS has the capacity of 4 MB each for fax, email & Voice Messages.

UMS comes to you at a nominal monthly rental of Rs. 149 only (unlimited usage).
GROUP MESSAGING

Party invitations, movie outings, festive greetings... whatever be the occasion, you

can send your message to all your friends at one go!

With Group Messaging from Hutch, you can thus save yourself the bother of

painstakingly sending your message to one person at a time whether you are on

Hutch Prepaid or Postpaid.

How to activate

A simple SMS request is all that is required. Just type GMADD and send it to 488.

Once your Group Messaging is activated you can start creating your group of

recipients. You have the option to make 10 such groups (business, relatives,

friends etc.).

You can send messages to all the recipients in your group/s for just Rs. 2 per

WAP
With WAP, you can have the Internet directly in your pocket. So if you are looking for quick

and easy delivery of information and services, your Hutch phone can show it all. Use it to

check out news, finance, shopping, entertainment, travel, entertainment and city service

information etc.

To access this service all you need is a WAP enabled handset and WAP services activated on

your Hutch phone.

This service comes to you at a nominal charge of Re. 1 per minute (1 min pulse).

VOICE RESPONSE
Get your Hutch phone to respond directly to your commands. Custom designed to recognise

Indian voices and accents, the Voice Response service makes your life more convenient. You

can get the latest updates on news, stocks, cricket and your horoscope.

Airtime charges will be Rs 6 per minute (1 minute pulse).

All you have to do is dial 910 and simply state what you want. E.g. "news." The system will

recognise your voice command and immediately respond with the latest news. Similarly with

cricket, stocks and even your horoscope.

You can choose to skip from one service to the other by just commanding what you want. The

system is intelligent enough to recognise this and respond accordingly. You can even say

'Help' and get assistance on navigation instantly.

This service is also personalised. Which means, once you choose to hear the news in a certain

language, or ask for the horoscope on your sun sign, the system will remember it every time

you call again.

While Hutch ensures that you get clear audio receptivity, extraneous noises or sounds may

interfere with the service.

Don't let your phone get wet

· Even slight amounts of water can corrode internal components, causing anything from

the display to the memory to quit working. In most cases, water-damaged phones have

to be replaced.
· Keep your phone away from water and sand. If you must take your phone to the beach,

then make sure to keep it in its protective case.

· Phones can even be damaged after being set on a wet bar or being dialled with wet
