Present Continuous

‰ Il present continuous ci dice ciò che sta


accadendo nel momento in cui si parla.
‘I’m talking to Peter.’

‰ E’ considerato il ‘vero’ presente.

‰ Si coniuga con il verbo ausiliare ‘to be’ + gerundio


del verbo principale.
‘go + ing = going’
‘Are you going home?’ ‘Yes, I’m going home.’

I’m speaking to head office.

He’s sending them by courier.
Special verbs: cannot use
Present Continuous

‰ Verbs connected to the senses: love, like, hate, see,


believe, remember, forget, understand, know, want,
mean

Example: What do you mean? I don’t understand.


‰ I love travelling, but I don’t like crowds.

‰ I know that face, but I don’t remember his name.

► All other verbs of action can be used in the Present
