Seeking Program Assistant/Translator for 2014 AYLP Orientation Week

Global Youth Connect (GYC), in partnership with Global Kids and the US State Department's American Youth Leadership Program (AYLP), is looking for a Program Assistant / Translator for the orientation week at the beginning of the 2014 AYLP program. Consultant will serve as Program Assistant/Translator for GYCs subcontract on the American Youth Leadership Program of the US State Department as administered by Global Kids, Inc. (GYCs Contractor). The consultant will assist GYC with the preparations for, coordination of, and translation services for the American Youth Leadership Program (AYLP) Orientation Week (the dates for which are July 3 rd July 8 th ). All duties will be carried out in consultation with Global Youth Connect (as represented on this project in Bosnia-Herzegovina by Adis Hukanovic).
Key Duties
A. Assist with the preparations for and coordination of a 5-day orientation program for American AYLP participants in Sarajevo and Mostar
Related Duties: Assist GYCs Program Coordinator (Adis Hukanovic) with confirming/organizing all necessary logistical arrangements for the orientation week, including meals, transportation (tram, taxi, bus), accommodation, meeting space, etc. Accompany American AYLP participants and Global Kids staff throughout the orientation phase of the program Troubleshooting as necessary
B. Translate for the AYLP group at important meetings and also informally
Related Duties: Consult with program staff about their preferred translation processes Participate in debriefing sessions with staff and participants as needed Requirements
Bachelors Degree Excellent English Skills Appreciation for and experience with working with youth groups and or travel agencies Able to work independently Availability: o Max 5 hours per week June 16 through July 2. o At least 10 hours per day July 3 6 th in Sarajevo. o Two full days between July 7 th and July 8 th (includes travel to, overnight, and activities in Mostar virtually 24 hour on-call availability)
Compensation: This position will be compensated based on experience with a base rate of 400 USD total with expenses covered in addition.
