This program teaches the basic skills of construction, HVAC,
engineering, biomechanics, and aeronautics. Students will
learn in the areas of reading and interpreting architectural
drawings, preparing the building site, introduction to and use of
power tools, residential framing and foundations, interior
carpentry, measuring, and applied mathematics. Students will
also learn basic electricity, heating, air conditioning, and sheet
metal as it pertains to residential heating, ventilation, and air
conditioning euipment installation and service. The above
practices are applied to classroom, lab e!ercises, and "obsite
installation. #uring the process of working at a building site,
students will be e!pected to work both individually and as a
member of work teams. This class reuires lifting, climbing,
and working outside in inclement weather. $f college level work
is attained, student may earn up to %& 'CC credits.

Students will learn to frame residential buildings using accepted framing techniues such
as framing member spacing, framing floor systems, interior and e!terior walls, ceilings,
roofs, and stairs. Various types of foundations and the advantages and disadvantages of
each are covered. Hands3on methods are used.

Credit"
This course covers safety in the industrial workplace and on construction worksites.
$ncluded are local, state and federal safety regulations. The focus will be on the prevention
of accidents but will teach the correct response if an accident should occur. 1irst aid,
C)(,A+# certificates will be reuired for successful completion.
HVAC 367 S'eet Metal %a#riation & In"tallation 4 LCC
Credit"
#esigned to aid the installer in the skills and techniues for installation of residential
heating and cooling systems. Topics covered include sheet metal layout, identification of
sheet metal fittings, and general furnace installation procedures.

Credit" This course will cover basic principles and history of alternative energy sources.

HIGH SCHOOL*COLLEGE CREDIT
The primary focus of the +aton $ntermediate School #istrict Career )reparation Center is
to enhance a student/s high school curriculum by providing an opportunity to learn a
technical trade and,or to obtain a head start on a post3secondary education.
All students completing an +aton $ntermediate School #istrict/s Career Center program at
'ansing Community College 'a8e t'e o((ortunit- to earn either direct or articulated
college credit while completing their high school program if specific criteria are met.
'CC credit is awarded to a student who- a4 completes the high school career and
technical education course with a minimum of a 5C6 average7 b4 meets the performance
ob"ectives for a specific 'ansing Community College course7 and, c4 passes the college
course final e!aminations, if one is reuired. These credits are shown as numerical
grades on the student/s 'CC transcript. Transcripts may be reuested through 'ansing
Community College +nrollment Services #epartment by August following course
completion.
The courses listed below show the possible 'CC college credits that may be available to
