Be It Resolved that the Medford High School Boys and Girls Rowing Teams and coaches be congratulated for winning its 2nd straight GBL title. The coaches and team members have been invited to the meeting.

3 RE: AUTHORIZATION TO SUBMIT A GRANT APPLICATION FOR THE DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW PLAYGROUND AND ACCESSIBILITY IMPROVEMENTS AT MAGOUN PARK AND TO APPROPRIATE THE FUNDS NECESSARY FOR IMPLEMENTATION.
Dear President Camuso and Members of the Medford City Council: The Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs (EEA), Division of Conservation Services (DCS) has awarded a reimbursement grant of $200,000.00 to the City of Medford for design and construction of a new playground and accessibility improvements as Phase I of the rehabilitation of Magoun Park. Implementation of the Phase I project has an estimated cost of $292,000.00. The City must appropriate and allocate this sum prior to execution of the grant agreement. I respectfully request and recommend that your Honorable Body adopt the attached resolution to submit the grant application to the EEA, DCS and to appropriate the sum of $292,000.00 for the implementation of the Phase I project. Whereas: The Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs (EEA), Division of Conservation Services, (DCS) is offering a reimbursement grant of $200,000.00 to the City of Medford to support design and construction of a new playground and accessibility improvements at Magoun Park through its Our Common Backyards Program; Whereas: Implementation of the project will cost a total of $292,000.00 and this sum must be appropriated and allocated to the project prior to the execution of the grant agreement. The Our Common Backyards grant will reimburse $200,000.00 of this total to the City on completion for the project. Whereas: The land that comprises Magoun Park was acquired by the City of Medford through three (3) deeds dated August 17, 1894, May 16, 1895 and September 30, 1897 for public park purposes as the same is set forth in G.L. C45 section 3. 4
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MEDFORD, AS FOLLOWS: 1. That the Mayor be hereby authorized to submit the grant application to the Executive Office of Environmental Affairs, Division of Conservation Services. 2. That the City Council appropriates the sum of $292,000.00 for the implementation of the Phase I project. 3. That the Mayor be hereby authorized to take such other actions as are necessary to carry out the terms, purposes, and conditions of this grant to be administered by the Office of Community Development; and 4. That the resolution shall take effect upon passage. I respectfully request and recommend that your Honorable Body appropriate $292,000 from SALE of REAL ESTATE, line item 124-102-5971-0000-0000-106-0000-0000 to Capital Account - Magoun Park.
Once the reimbursement from the state occurs, I will request your Honorable Body to transfer the net costs to city to Sale of Real Estate Account.
The balance after appropriation will be $200,365.
