June 2, 2014 e-WOOF is a bi-monthly e-newsletter produced by a small group of Wyoming dog rescuers in an effort to high- light shelter dogs in critical need of help. e-WOOF spotlights many dogs that face euthanasia within days unless they are rescued, fostered, or adopted. Transport can be arranged, in most cases, to approved adoptive or foster homes or rescue organizations. Please help us! These are good, healthy, happy, lov- ing dogs that are out of luck and out of time. We urge you to crosspost to e-mail lists and Web groups, forward to friends, send to co-workers, and share with family. We hope our efforts, combined with yours, will save many lives. JAKE is a 10 year old Cattle Dog mix. He came to the shelter from a pretty bad situation where he was abandoned in a home with a couple other dogs. They were locked inside for very long periods of time. He would be best in a home without cats or children, but does well with other dogs. This older guy is just very eager to please and deserves a great home!
SOPHIA is a 2 year old Lab/Border Collie mix. Poor Sophia had a bit of a colorful past with an owner who abused her, so she can be a little timid at frst. Once you arent a stranger anymore it is hard to tell she had ever been abused! She is playful and affectionate, and a great all-around dog!
MOSES is a 3 year old Treeing Walker Coonhound. This guy just loves to be loved. While youre petting him he likes to lean up against your legs. He seems to do very well with other dogs; we have had him in with other dogs and he has also done well at the local dog park. He would probably be best in a home without cats; we think he had been used for hunting because when he sees a cat he bays at them and points at them. When he gets outside he has a lot of energy, as would be expected of his age and breed. Carlyle has a gorgeous, expressive face that has to be seen in person to truly appreciate, and his adoption fee is waived! Everyone who meets me describes me as sweet and charming. At approximately 14 pounds, Im a great size for just about everyone. I like cats and I get along with dogs of all sizes. While I do love the company of people, I can be fearful of men. Im just not too sure what to think of them sometimes. I also would prefer to be in a home with older kids. VALERIE. Im spunky, smart, and love to be loved! My foster parents seem very proud of how far Ive come in the short time Ive been living with them. It seems, that I might not have gotten properly socialized with other dogs in my previous home, so my foster home and I have had to put in some work and training to learn proper greetings when I meet new dogs. ____________ Rainbow Rescues, Inc. -- Casper, WY Contact: rainbowrescues@outlook.com BAILEY and MURPHY. Looking for an experienced Boxer lover who will enjoy these two characters and provide a safe, loving home. Bailey (white Boxer) is 7 years old and Murphy (fawn Boxer) is 9 years old. Both are spayed, have complete health exams, are heart worm negative, have microchips, and are current on vaccinations. They are needing a retirement home TOGETHER. They have lived with children, are still lively, and alert. However, they are no longer athletes. Both have old ACL injuries, now with some arthritis. No major health issues or expenses. Both are on weight-watchers, doing well. They have GREAT dispositions, are happy souls who need daily attention, big hugs, brushing, etc. ____________ The Dog and Cat Shelter, Inc. -- Sheridan, WY Contact: 307-674-7694 or dogncat@fberpipe.net ABBY. Do you want a nice, quiet, older companion? Then Im your dog. My name is Abby and Im a twelve-year-old female Golden Retriever mix. I get along good with other dogs and show no animosity towards cats. I do like to go for walks but prefer to lay around and take life easy. I do have a problem with my hips but with a little pain medication or holistic treatments I will do just fne. My teeth are bad too, but thanks to a very generous donor, I get to go in the veterinary clinic and have them removed. Once I heal from that I will be a much happier girl and will have a little more pep in my step. The donor will also cover the cost of my hip medications or holistic treatments for the rest of my life. Id prefer to be with an older couple who would take care of me for my remaining years which should be quite a few. Come give me a whirl and I know that you will fall in love with me. ____________ German Shepherd Rescue of the Rockies - Colorado Sweet Senior Henry Needs a Home! HENRY is an adult German Shepherd who was found on the side of a highway near Malvern, Arkansas. He was in pretty bad shape. He was weak, malnourished and he had very little hair left on his skinny, frail body. Penny is the angel that saved him and took him to the vet. DJANGO VALERIE FOSTER HOMES NEEDED! Henry loves people and gets so excited when he sees other dogs. He likes to walk the yard at his foster home but never takes his eye off his favorite dog friend or his foster mom. He never wants to be left behind again. Henry has discovered the food stuffed Kong toy and sits for his foster mom to bring it to him each morning. His favorite activities are laying his head in your lap, wearing his sweater, having his ears rubbed and of course, eating. Henry would be most happy inside a home with a dedicated caregiver. His most favorite place is his heated bed next to the freplace. He really wants to be warm and snuggle with someone who can shower him with love. Henry obviously has never had the home he deserves and he has shown us that he is really looking for a new start on life, a good loving life that he has never known. German Shepherd Rescue of the Rockies is helping Penny fnd a forever home for this sweet soul, even though we are in two different states. If you are interested in learning more about Henry please submit an application to GSROR. It would be best for Henry not to travel a long distance so we prefer you live in Arkansas, Oklahoma or Texas. Once we have your information we will send it to the guardian angel who saved his life and who is trying to fnd his forever family. Chase that tail! Dogs chase their tails for a variety of
reasons: curiosity, exercise, anxiety, predatory instinct or, they might have feas! If your dog is chasing his tail excessively, talk with your vet. Source: PBS HOT WEATHER TIPS FOR YOUR PET DONT LEAVE YOUR PET ALONE IN THE CAR ON A WARM DAY Despite the warnings, every year, pets die after their owners leave them in a parked car that overheats. Within just a few minutes, a car can get extremely shot, stifing, and deadly. BE VIGILANT ABOUT VET CARE When it starts getting warm outside, take your dog or cat to the vet for a full check up. The check up should include a heartworm test and a fea and tick protection plan. These are year-round issues but in the summer months, with much more outdoors time, its especially important to monitor them. AVOID WALKING YOUR DOG IN THE HEAT Aim for mornings and evenings when letting your dog outside. KEEP YOUR HOME COOL FOR YOUR PETS When the temperature outside gets hot, it can be harder to keep the indoors cool. Keep your air conditioning at a conservative level. Make sure your pet has water and, consider closing curtains to reduce the heating effects of sunlight through the windows. GIVE YOUR PETS ACCESS TO SHADE AND PLENTY OF WATER Pets can get dehydrated or get heatstroke quickly so any pet outside needs to have plenty of water and access to shade.
