Visas for the 2014 FIFA World Cup

Spectators, journalists and FIFA-accredited staff who need entry visas to Brazil to attend the
2014 FIFA World Cup can apply for a visa with a Brazilian Consulate. For a list of Brazilian

Please note that spectators and journalists/camerapersons who already have a valid entry
visa to Brazil on their passports may use it to attend the World Cup.
Who needs a visa
If you are a spectator, please click here to see if citizens of your country are exempt from
tourist visa (VITUR). If you are exempt, you do not need a visa to attend the World Cup. If
you are not exempt, please apply for a FIFA WORLD CUP BRAZIL 2014 - SPECTATOR visa.

If you are a journalist or cameraperson planning to cover the World Cup, please click here
to see if citizens of your country are exempt from business visa (VITEM-II). If you are
exempt, you do not need a visa to attend the World Cup. If you are not exempt, please
apply for a FIFA WORLD CUP BRAZIL 2014 - PRESS visa. See below how to apply.
Visas can also be granted to legal dependents accompanying a spectator or a
journalist/cameraperson who is traveling to Brazil for the World Cup. In this case, the status
of dependent must be proved (for instance, a birth certificate in the case of sons or
daughters), but the dependent is not required to present to the Consulate a match ticket or
FIFA press accreditation. Check if the dependent is not exempt from tourist visa and apply
for a FIFA WORLD CUP BRAZIL 2014 - SPECTATOR visa. See below how to apply.
Please note that United States citizens require a visa to enter Brazil.
If you do need a visa, plan your application in advance, as the volume of applications for
the World Cup is expected to be considerable and more concentrated as the date for the
start of the competition approaches.
How to apply for a visa
Please read first the general information for all visa applicants.
See above if you need a visa. Locate the nearest Brazilian Consulate.
Fill out the online visa application form. Please select one of the following options from the
pull-down menu entitled main purpose of your trip:
a. for spectators, select FIFA WORLD CUP BRAZIL 2014 - SPECTATOR;
b. for journalists and camerapersons, select FIFA WORLD CUP BRAZIL 2014 - PRESS;
c. for dependents of spectators or journalists, select FIFA WORLD CUP BRAZIL 2014 -
SPECTATOR;
d. for FIFA-accredited staff and volunteers, select FIFA CONF. CUP AND WORLD CUP
2014 - FIFA ACCREDITED PERSONNEL AND VOLUNTEERS.
In order to apply for a FIFA visa with the Consulate General of Brazil in San Francisco,
please submit the following (from 9 am to 11:30 am Please note that you need to make
an appointment online):
for spectators, the match ticket or ticket purchase confirmation; for journalists or
camerapersons, the appropriate press accreditation document issued by FIFAs press
committee; for FIFA-accredited organizers and volunteers, an invitation letter issued
by FIFA or by the Local Organizing Committee;
your passport, valid for at least another 6 months and with at least one blank visa
page available;
one recent 2" x 2" passport photo of the applicant, front view, white background
(please glue the photo on the receipt page see below; note that snapshots and
computer pictures are not accepted);
the printed receipt page (with barcode) of the online visa application form; said
receipt can be printed after filling out the online form and must be signed by the
passport holder; the photo must be glued on the appropriate box (please fill out the
online form as completely as possible).
Additional visa requirements for minor children (under 18 years of age):
both parents must sign the receipt page in the appropriate signature box.
the original and one copy of birth certificate must be presented;
a notarized letter of consent to issue a visa for minor children must be presented,
signed by both parents.
Visas for persons who will travel to Brazil to attend the 2014 FIFA World Cup will be issued
free of charge.
Entry and stay in Brazil
First entry in Brazil on visas issued for spectators and journalists (and their legal
dependents) must be by July 13, 2014. Spectators and journalists/camerapersons and their
legal dependents may stay in Brazil for up to 90 days. This period is counted as of the date
of first entry and flows uninterruptedly. The visa is good for multiple entries in Brazil.
FIFA staff members and accredited volunteers who will stay in Brazil over 90 days must
register with the Ministry of Foreign Relations after their first entry in Brazil.
Please note:
The Brazilian Government decides at its own discretion the type of visa to be
granted.
The Consulate may request additional information or documentation, as deemed
necessary.
Ticketholders and journalists/camerapersons who already have a valid visa to Brazil
on their passports may use it to attend the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
