Vectors in Two Dimensions
a) Component Method
- Break vector into x and y components
- Determine net vector magnitude for each component
- Add vectors using Pythagorean Theorem to determine vector magnitude
- Use trig to determine vector direction
b) Vector Method
- Use cosine law to determine vector magnitude
- Use sine law to determine vector direction
Projectile Motion
- If question asks for a horizontal variable, solve for t in the vertical plane, then use
in the equation for the horizontal plane
- If question asks for a vertical variable, solve for t in the horizontal plane, then use
in the equation for the vertical plane
- May have to use the quadratic formula to solve for t
