Film report

My aim and objective was to find the right audience and the best short film. To achieve this aim
I had to carry out primary and secondary research. This meant carrying questionnaire, focus
and researching the type of film which are similar to ours.my questionnaire about what people
like about my magazine. On my questionnaire I had to ask different qualitative/quantitative
question to find out the right information I am looking for. One of the best ingredients of a
questionnaire is that you can make the question anything you want it to be. Personally I think
the questionnaire is easier way to discover and find information and it every quick also need to
make sure that my question was accurate, and the feedback from the question can help my
film. I gave my questionnaire to 10 different people; I also investigate a focus group for my film.
I wanted to find out what people think of my film .In the focus group I wanted to film out what
people will like to see in my film. Secondary research is every important part in report too;
Secondary research is a technique of collecting research that has already been collected by
someone else looked at different sites on the internet, I found that some of the sites were
really useful, and they gave me good ideas as to why I could make this specific film. But the site
that I looked at was IMDB, they have a lot of information about nearly everything a film for
example the actors within the film and the editors and what not; they also have other media
features such as video games and TV programs.
This film is surprisingly every simple, convincing and realistic. It happen to people in daily . The
film is a dramatic British film. We have also recognized the demographics and psychographics
of the target audience. This is every important, due to fact this are people we are going to get
our money from.
Plot of my film
The film is about people making choices in life, which may or not affect them in life. The main
character goes to college but then turns out that he is late to his lesson. His teacher tries to
reason with him but he ends up shouting at the teacher and getting a detention. In his
detention he ends up falling asleep and having a dream about his future. He dreams about what
his future will look like if he carries on acting in the way he is. He then wakes up, the film will go
back to the start and he decides to change his ways; but it is too late too.



Usp
This film is not made for one purpose only, meaning there a lot of persistence for the film
choice. It has an education side to it. We name the tiles choices; because we wanted the
audience to be curious and have imagery in the audience mind .also we didnt want it to be
predicable. The film is link to the seconds; there are similarities between both films. Choice film
put every short film out there into shame, making it so easy and not complicated for the view
to understand the movie. The choice film has an education side to it has well. For example the
problem in the film can be related to people in this class or outside. The also limited the
character in our film, we didnt want our audience to be confused and lost in the storyline. The
film is simply amazing, only a genuine can create a film which will make a different in people life
styles.

This question was every significant because i want both gender to attracted to the film. The
result shows the audience believe the film is targeting a specific gender. The result was 60% to
40 %. This was very close. The result shows that people are not sure if the film is sending a
message to both genders. The feedback i got was the story can related to both gender, the
audience talk about the situation happening to anyone, the problem happen to boys and girls.
Just looking that the pie chart, you can clearly see the audience is confused about types of
audience our film is aim to. The result is every close. The results from the first question were
that the majority audience believe our film has a specific target audience.

Which meaning the audience believe that the film is aim at any target audience .this result was
50% - 50%. The feedback receive was people make the wrong choice in life, doesnt matter
what age are u, bad choice come daily. On the other hand some of people that answer the
question believe the film is acted by too many teenage. This may indicate that the film is
teenage base. Looking that the table it shows, the audience doesnt have a final decisions. This
question is every important to film due to the fact we the producer of the film want the film to
target every target audience possible. The more target audience we appear to, more profit we
get.

On the other hand, some of the audience want to see a good ending. This will be following
todorov.This question is every significant, because it decide the ending of the film. The cliff
hanger will be ended by Chris which is the main character. The future of Chris will be in doubt
and he might be begging for food in the street .the audience will be curious about what choice
Chris has chosen .the good ending will be Chris has changed is ways, he pick the right choice .
Also he will have a good future in life .The question show what ending the will audience prefer.
This result shows that the audience preferred a cliff hanger. The result show the 80% voted for
the film to end as a cliff hanger, and the 20% voted for the film to end as good ending. It
majority of the audience suggest that the cliff hanger will be interesting and pleasing to watch.
They also suggested that good ending will make the film more predictable.

This question was also significant due to the fact it involved the audience. The more character
used in the movie, it might confused the audience and storyline will be difficult to understand.
Moreover it will having less character might make the storyline boring and the audience will not
be able to relate to any of the character .This question is to check if we could have more cast
member in the film .the more character the film include the more people can relate to it . The
result show that 60% people voted for the film didnt need any more character. They also gave
feedback as the more character the film include the more difficult the film making is . this a
high amount of people that suggest adding more character to the film might confuse them and
make the complicate. On the other hand, 40% voted that that the film needs more character,
will make the film, more interesting and pleasing to them. They believe that they can relate to
some of the character that will be included.

Focus group feedback
The focus was done and ask in the classroom .we ask our classmate for reasons that they
already knew our film idea. Our classmate was easier to explain story line to. the focus group
was age to 16 -18 . This was every useful because our film is basic on teenage lifestyle .we also
ask both gender, to get an fair result.

It does appear to both genders, you can see the similarities on a male and female. The story
could contain more female to appeal to them more.
How can our film are improved?
There is no more to improved, it has two twisted. Probably need to improve the setting , this
will make the film more interesting and better quality.
What would you like to see in our film?
I would I like more character, in our film. But that will probably confused the viewer and make
the film more demanding to make.











Pre-production
Pre-production is the stage of further developing ideas and planning past to the process of
production. In a live action movie sense it is the period before filming starts. Although there is a
general sequence of events to Pre-production it's normal for the various stages to be revisited
more than once. The pre-production was the part of me creating my film and starting to create
what the plot of my film will be about, so this will include the creation of the film. This would
have started it off with me and my production trying to find the idea to make a film, we done
this by asking a number of people what they like to see in a film so we done this by having a
questionnaire and hosting a number of focus groups. We also looked on the internet to see
what types of films are most successful films so it will give us an idea of what our target
audience enjoys watching. Once we had the idea we put it in a storyboard, we done this to
know what our target audience likes to see in a film, so once we done this we created an idea
from the storyline that they had given us. Once this was done we make it sound as if I was a
move plot, so we had had a different storyline from the same idea, so we had a meeting to
pitch all our ideas and create a film out of it. Then we went back into having a focus group to
tell them what our idea was and they gave us a number of things that will help us making it
more unpredictable and different to all other films.
So once this was done we needed to pitch our idea to the get it funded we done this to get a
rich investor, to invest in our film so we made a presentation to sell the creation of our film and
why we think it will be successful and why they should make it. So once we know that they
wanted to invest in our film we need to get the script written by one of them then once it was
written they gave it to me (the producer) to make to see if I thought it was the idea I had in the
film, so once they had do this I made some changes to make it sound more like the film I had
pictured.
As soon has the idea was found, we need some money to fund our film .this was achieve by
ironic investor. For example our film can be finance by sponsorship, bfi (giving film maker).in
fact we can fund the film ourselves. For Film Company invest in our film, we had to create a
presentation to sell and trade our film idea. We had to explain clearly why we think our film we
be great addition to the film society. Why we think it will be a successful film. After this process
we started to write our script. The script was then given to producer.
So once we had the idea and the script we know how much characters we needed in it so we
held audition to find people the will suit the characters in our film, so we gave them a couple
line and then will see if they could act, then if they could act will see if they can play that role.
We also had to get the members in the background team and what we also will need to get the
equipments that we need to shoot with.
As soon the script was written, the character in the movie was completed .we started to
audition people who will play the role of character in the film. The we had to pick the character
from the audition , we audition them by giving them some line from the film . This will improve
to us if we got the right man or woman for the job in hand .after choosing the character for the
job, we had back up charters just in case the character we first chose was unavailable. We had
to get the equipment , for example the camera .
Production
Will be the part when we start shooting our film, when we are doing this we wouldnt shoot our
film day by day but instead we will shoot our film when we had the actors to shoot with and
when are shooting in that location. This would be us shooting everything we need in our film
and we will make it seem realistic, we also need to add lighting to make it seem more realistic,
after every shoot we had to shoot it again form a different angle and to have movement to the
camera add a better effect on the film.
Production is all about making or manufacturing material. In this case the shooting of our film .
the actor in our film are located in the college we study in .our film had to shoot in different
location to make the film look realistic, the montage in your film Had to been done if different
setting , by doing it make seen that it happen in different time. This involved shooting the film
every day , but this will be difficult the fact the actor might be not available everyday . This
was schedule for the Montage part of our film .
Post production
So once the filming is done well start of by cutting, our movies this will be the first job of the
film editor they will do this to build a rough cut taken from scenes based on individual shots.
The purpose of the rough cut is to select and order the best shots. So then once they have done
this they will add edits to the film to make it look realistic and to show the audience what is
wrong.













Secondary research
Secondary research is one easiest way to do research. To research about my target audience for
my sport magazine, I had to use the internet, this help because it was very easy and sometimes
very reliable. One the best thing about secondary research produces quantitative information
and has already been gathered and analysed for you. I find secondary very trouble-free because
most of the work has been done for you. I looked at different sites on the internet, I found that
some of the sites were really useful, and they gave me good ideas as to why I could make this
specific film. But the site that I looked at was IMDB, they have a lot of information about nearly
everything a film for example the actors within the film and the editors and what not; they also
have other media features such as video games and TV programs.
The second is also a short film every similar to film we are trying to recreate .the film is a similar
structure to the choices. Second is two min long, which is one of the shortest film all time, the
film contain montage in the middle of the film; this included in the choices. Second has the
similar narrative as the film choices. The film second is genre is romance and the film gives us a
real life scenario.

I wanted to conduct more research for example the primary and secondary research to find
out what a specific target audience need and what they actually want from an up-coming film
that is about to be released. I needed to look at facts and figures because I think logically that
explains the success of a film and how well its done; that could cover the features of pre-
production and post-production.

I found out that some shows have similar storylines. However these sort of shows have already
been released obviously on TV so some people might think that this film is just a blatant copy of
the shows that might be on TV, that can be a real let down for the producer of the film and
director, well in fact the whole of the company; but then if you look at it at an alternative angle
you can have some sort of competition between other shows and films out there, there is
always little room for banter. But overall if I look at the shows that have a similar view then you
can expect a good review of them films; if it says it in the statistics then you have good idea
about them films your producing this could also mean better views then the other shows and
films out there.

Inception can be link to our film choice, the inception is great film made in the 21 century. the
film is an action sci-fi thriller film. The film structure as similarities as our film, for example the
montage and edit used. Inception is well documented all over the world. The film has selling
remarkable every way. The film can be link to a real life scenario. , for example people The film
is linear and follows todorov which is link to our film development. Another film which is every
similar to our film is seconds. The film is short film, the narrative is every comparable to the film
choices. The film as the right amount of character in the film .the significant part is the montage
is similar to the film choices.
Furthermore, inception has a montage technique, which is link to my film. The montage in
inception has an similar dream structure together. All of these findings can help because I can
assess the film and include features from other films out there that are similar to my film, at the
end of the day its all about the audience and how they can perceive my film I need to promote
the film and conger up profit from it. Below are the ways in which I can promote my film to the
general public.
Post production
Post -production is will be very keys to my short film. I identify will to have the same budget
and famous actor has a professional film, but is very important to relate them. The period of
time will two to three months. The post production will be part of filming and the editing it.
This has a process of downloading and uploading the footage in a pc and editing will final cut.
This is also a long process of work, the story board will every important the filming, because it is
melt to guide you. We have not decided what data will start film the movie choice but the
months will be January. We have an diary of the process of my film. We had a dairy to fill every
single lesson. This was recorded, to show the film we research well .it also show the
development of the film . It show what will have to do next lesson, due to fact we may forget.
Personnel
In this type of situation you need to find out the type of people who are suitable for the job
role. You wouldnt need to hire people who are not Into editing or anything like that, because
they wouldnt take the job seriously; but if you pick someone who is decent and skilled enough
for the job then your film will be looking good because you have experienced people in the
crew. The camera man has one of the important roles in the post production, he has to be
there when the shooting the angle shot .this may require an assistant camera man ,in this case
the assistant camera man fill in the other camera if he doesnt attend the filming schedule .
Shooting
Pre-production stage of the film, have two to three months to plan everything . This show our
shooting schedule in the mouth month of January.

Conclusion
The film Choice put every short film out there into shame, making it so easy and not
complicated for the view to understand the movie. The choice film has an education side to it
has well. For example the problem in the film can be related to people in this class or outside.
Everyone make a wrong choice once in their life, which can relate to the character in the film.
We believe the time limited is just right. For that reason it will leave the audience wanting
more. The film includes a cliff hanger, which appear to target audience.one of the reason why
the film has a cliff hanger is because we want the audience wanting more. This film will appear
to children in different culture, also it appear to people to older people. People have to make
choice every day; this film may just influence them to make the right choice. I believe my choice
film should be made because it has an edge and kick to it .it may influence people behaviour to
lifestyle. Through the focus group and the primary research I discovered that many people
would be tempted to watch our film because of the title they said it was a good title makes it a
bit of a surprise, this is another reason why people may go and see our film. The target
audience also like the time limited for the short film.

Recommendations
I believe my film will be successful, due to the fact it has an easy and understanding storyline
which the audience can relate to. The promotion of film can be display those way.
1.YouTube- You can sign up to a YouTube account and search for the partners programme;
there you can attach a viral short film online. Many users on YouTube have earned millions
from just there ads on the site.
2.TV- They alternative route to get your film distributed is to get the films aired on channels,
they can be often be bought from a specific programme and you can get money from the
company that bought it, that can depend on the viewing time as well.
3. Promotion- You can have a team help you promote the short film you have made by making
services that people will usually provide to you. You negotiate different dealings with different
people that way you have a solid chance of getting the film seen.
