Editorial policy
The British Journal of Ethnomusicology, renamed EthnomusicologyForumf rom2 0 0 4, is
a ref ereed journal published biannuallybythe British Forumf or Ethnomusicology(BFE).
Membership of BFEis open to all without restriction. Likewise, the Journal welcomes all
s contributions, regardless of the author's countryof origin or residence. Manuscripts
should not have previouslyappeared in print, nor should theyhave been simultaneously
submitted f or review to other journals. If material f eaturingcentrallyin the manuscript
relates closelyto papers bythe author alreadypublished, or accepted f or publication,
elsewhere, this should be brought to the attention of the editors. Further inf ormation f or

Membership subscriptions are bycalendar year. Members will receive two issues of the
Journal and two issues of the BFENewsletter each year. Members mayalso receive special
mailings relatingto the Annual Conf erence and the Annual One-DayConf erence. The
Newsletter carries news of events and institutions, reports on conf erences, inf ormation on
members' interests and activities, and shorter or less f ormal scholarlycommunications than
those f ound in the Journal. To receive mailings on schedule, members must be paid up by
