Back spin
Theres a counter torque led by the liquid column weight and the rod
string twist. When the Drive head stops for maintenance or other
reason, this counter torque has to be refrained to prevent a
dangerous back-spin.
However we need to release this energy to secure the area and
enable any work on the well. This is the purpose of the back-spin
device.
The brake of the Drive head is driven by the pressure generated by
the auxiliary pump spinning backwards. When the pump stops, the
rod string starts spinbing backwards, the generated pressure by the
auxiliary pump rises and the pads start to press on the brake disc.
Then the backwards rotation decreases and the pressure on the
pads is released.
Thus the energy is slowly released.

Drive head assembly process
1) Fix the thrust washer in its
location inside the drive head
2) Put the shaft on the thrust
washer, the gear for oil
circuit from shaft have to
lead the gear from drive
head
3) Thread the coverplate on
the shaft and screw down
the coverplate

4) Put the key stock on the
shaft on its location
5) Thread the rotor on the shaft
and block it in rotation with the
key stock
Add lube oil if the thread is
hard
Dont thread the cap right to
the end, let some space for
inserting the brake device

6) Put the brake pad in the
brake device in its location and
insert all on the rotor
7) Thread down the brake
device on the drive head and
displace the rotor in the same
time
8) Dont forget the wedges
