Proceedings of the 10th meeting of Faculty of Veterinary &

Animal Science, MAFSU, Nagpur

The meeting of the 10th Faculty of Veterinary and Animal Science, MAFSU,
Nagpur was held on 14th November 2009 at University head quarter, Nagpur at 11.00
AM. The following members attended the meeting

At the outset the Secretary, Dr. S. V. Chopde welcome, the Chairman and all
the members attending the 10th Faculty meeting. Then with the permission of
Chairman, the regular agenda of the meeting was taken up.

Subject No 1/2009- Confirmation of minutes of 9th Faculty meeting held on 11th
November 2008

The minutes of the 9th faculty meeting held on 11th November 2008 were
confirmed unanimously.

Resolution- The Faculty confirms the minutes of the 9th Faculty meeting held on 11th
November 2008.

Subject No 2 /2009- Action taken on the resolutions passed in the 9th Faculty
meeting held on 11th November 2008

The Secretary informed the house about the action taken on the various
resolutions passed in the 9th faculty meeting held on 11th November 2008. The Faculty
expresses satisfaction over the compliance made on the resolutions.

Resolution- The Faculty took note of the compliance taken on the resolutions of
the 9th Faculty meeting held on 11th November 2008.

Subject No 3/2009- Approval to the courses lecture and practical schedules of


the post graduate degree programme (M. V. Sc.) in Wild
Life Management scheduled to be started in MAFSU,
Nagpur

The Secretary informed the house about the M. V. Sc. Courses to be started in
wild life management at MAFSU. Dr. M. B. Patil queried about the infrastructure
facilities for these courses. Dr. Ranade informed that in New ICAR syllabus these
courses are distributed in LPM and Animal Nutrition. Dr. M. I. Baig informed that
considering the students prospects, it is necessary to implement these courses. Dr. D.
B. Sarode informed all the possibilities to start this course at University. The
Chairman agreed to start M. V. Sc. Wild Life Management subject to approval from
ICAR. The following resolution was passed.

Resolution- The Faculty approves the syllabus and to start M. V. Sc. in Wild Life
Management subject to the approval of ICAR and further recommends
to the Academic Council.

Subject No 4/2009- Approval for starting Ph. D. degree programme in the


discipline of Veterinary Surgery and Radiology, Veterinary
Pharmacology and Toxicology and Animal Reproduction,
Gynaecology and Obstetrics at Nagpur Veterinary College,
Nagpur

Dr. S. G. Narayankhekar informed the house that under his chairmanship, the
facilities and available manpower have been inspected in all these departments and it
is satisfactory. The house approved the proposal to start the Ph. D. degree programme
in these departments and the following resolution was passed.

Resolution- The Faculty approves to start Ph. D. degree programme in the discipline
of Veterinary Surgery and Radiology, Veterinary Pharmacology and
Toxicology and Animal Reproduction, Gynaecology and Obstetrics at
Nagpur Veterinary College, Nagpur with an intake capacity of two
students each subject and further recommends to the Academic Council
for approval.

Subject No 5/2009- Approval to the Board of studies of Library and Information


Science in MAFSU, Nagpur

Professor S. N. Gawande informed the need to have the BoS in Library and
Information Science, in view of the proposed ICAR syllabus for post graduate studies.
Dr. D. B. Sarode enquired the necessary facilities available at all the constituent
colleges. Professor Gawande informed about the facilities at university. The house
agreed the proposal with following resolution.

Resolution- The Faculty approves the Board of Studies in Library and Information
Science and recommends to the Academic Council for approval.

Subject No 6/2009 Approval to the courses lecture and practical schedules of


the post graduate degree programme (M. V. Sc. & Ph. D.)
as per M. V. Sc. syllabus approved by ICAR

The Chairman informed that the new ICAR syllabus is to be implemented so


as to get the uniformity in the course content on all India level basis. He proposed to
start the course from current year. Dr. M. B. Patil, Dr. A. S. Ranade and Dr. C. R.
Jangde informed the house about the various lacunas in the implementation of this
syllabus and they proposed to constitute a committee to sort out the modalities in
implementation of this new syllabus as proposed by the ICAR. After thorough
discussion in the house the following resolution was taken.

Resolution- In view of the lacunas existing in the Newly Framed syllabus, a


committee is formed under the Chairmanship of Dr. S. G.
Narayankhedkar with Dr. A. S. Ranade, Dr. A. S. Bannalikar, Dr. D.
V. Keskar, Dr. B. T. Deshmukh, Dr. S. H. Gawande, Dr. P. L. Dhande
and Professor S. N. Gawande as member and Dr. S. V. Chopde as a
Secretary. The committee shall submit the report by the end of January
2010.

Subject No 7/2009 Approval of the experts for thesis evaluation and selection
committee

The list of experts is presented to the house by the secretary and house agreed
to this with following resolution.

Resolution- The faculty approves the list of experts and recommends to the Academic
Council.

Subject No 8/2009 Identifying teaching staff for the non credit compulsory
courses as per the M. V. Sc. syllabus approved by ICAR

The Chairman informed the necessity of identifying teaching staff in


compulsory courses on new ICAR syllabus. The house approved proposal with
following resolution.

Resolution- The faculty identified PGS 501 (Library and information services), PGS
503 (Intellectual property and its management, e-course) to the Library
and Information Sciences. The PGS 502 (Technical writing and
communication skills) either to Veterinary & Animal Husbandry
Extension or Library and Information Sciences and PGS 506 (Disaster
Management) to the LPM. The faculty recommends to the Academic
Council for approval.

Subject No 9/2009 Continuation of Ph. D. (By Research) programme for


MAFSU employee

The Chairman informed the need of Ph. D. (By research) programme for those
employees who were in the SAU’s or other research institutes before joining the
MAFSU. The house agreed the proposal unanimously and the following resolution
was passed.

Resolution- The faculty approved the proposal of continuation of Ph. D. (By


Research) programme to the MAFSU employees and further
recommends to the Academic Council for approval.

Subject No 10/2009 Approval of ORW of candidate (Dr. K. P. Khillare) applied


for Ph. D. (By Research) degree programme on isolation
and characterization of bovine spermatogonial stem cells

With the permission of Chairman, Dr. H. S. Birade, Professor of Gynaecology


presented the ORW of Dr. K. P. Khillare. The unanimously approved the ORW with
following resolution

Resolution- The faculty approves the ORW of Dr. K. P. Khillare and recommends to
the Academic Council for approval.

Subject No 11(a)/2009 Approval for starting the Ph. D. degree programme (by
course work) in the discipline of veterinary microbiology at
department of veterinary microbiology, Nagpur Veterinary
College, Nagpur

The Chairman informed the house about sufficient facilities and manpower at
department of microbiology, NVC, Nagpur. The house agreed the proposal with
following resolution.

Resolution- The faculty approved to start Ph. D. degree programme in the discipline
of veterinary microbiology at NVC, Nagpur with an intake capacity of
two students and also recommends to the Academic Council.

Subject No 11(b)/2009 Approval for starting the M. V. Sc. degree programme in


the discipline of Animal Biotechnology at department of
veterinary microbiology, Nagpur Veterinary College,
Nagpur

The Chairman informed the house about to start M. V. Sc. in Animal


Biotechnology at department of microbiology, NVC, Nagpur. The Ranade and Dr.
Jangade opined that there will be overburdened with intake capacity of ten students.
Dr. Aziz suggested to distribute two seats to the allied departments of biotechnology.
The Chairman informed that, as it is DBT funded programme approved to department
of micribiolgy, it is necessary to implement the same. The house agreed the proposal
with following resolution.

Resolution- The faculty approved to start M. V. Sc. degree programme in the


discipline of Animal Biotechnology at department of veterinary
microbiology at NVC, Nagpur with an intake capacity of tens students
and also recommends to the Academic Council.

Subject No 11(c)/2009 Approval for starting the M. V. Sc & Ph. D. (by course
work) degree programme in the discipline of Veterinary
Epidemiology & Preventive Medicine and Veterinary
Clinical Medicine, Ethics & Jurisprudence at Nagpur
Veterinary College, Nagpur

Dr. D. L. Bijwal, University Head, Department of Veterinary Epidemiology &


Preventive Medicine and Dr. D. V. Keskar, University Head, Department of
Veterinary Clinical Medicine, Ethics & Jurisprudence proposed to start the M. V. Sc
& Ph. D. (by course work) degree programme in the respective discipline at Nagpur
Veterinary College, Nagpur. The house agreed the proposal with following resolution.

Resolution- The faculty approved to start the M. V. Sc & Ph. D. (by course work)
degree programme in the discipline of Veterinary Epidemiology &
Preventive Medicine and Veterinary Clinical Medicine, Ethics &
Jurisprudence at Nagpur Veterinary College, Nagpur with an intake
capacity of two students each and further recommends to the Academic
Council for approval.

After thorough discussion on all the subjects, the meeting was ended with vote
of thanks to the Chair.

Subject No.6/2009 : Approval to the Courses, Lecture and Practical schedules of the
Post Graduate Programme (M.V.Sc) as per M.V.Sc. syllabus
approved by the ICAR.
