2009 REGULATIONS OF MBA DEGREE PROGRAMMES (Full T!"#
(For the batches of candidates admitted in 2009-2010 and subsequently)
NOTE$ he regulations hereunder are sub!ect to amendments as may be made by the Academic "ouncil of the
"ollege from time to time# Any or all such amendments $ill be effective from such date and to such batches of
candidates (including those already in the middle of the %rogramme) as may be decided by the Academic
"ouncil#
1% CONDITIONS FOR ADMISSION
"andidates for admission to the %rogramme leading to the degree of &aster of 'usiness
Administration (&'A) shall be required to have %assed any degree e(amination of Anna
University or any other e(amination of any recogni)ed University or authority acce%ted by
Anna University* "oimbatore as equivalent thereto* sub!ect to amendments as may be
made by the Anna University from time to time# he candidates shall also be required to
satisfy all other conditions of admission thereto %rescribed by the Anna University*
"oimbatore#
2% DURATION OF THE PROGRAMME
(i) M&!u! 'u()*+&$ he %rogramme leading to the +egree of &aster of 'usiness
Administration (&'A) $ill e(tend over a %eriod of ,* $ith - trimesters %er academic year#
(ii) M),!u! 'u()*+&$ he candidate shall com%lete all the %assing requirements of the
&'A degree %rogramme $ithin a ma(imum %eriod of . years / 12* these %eriods being
rec0oned from the commencement of the trimester to $hich the candidate $as first
admitted#
-% STRUCTURE OF THE PROGRAMME
(i) Cu((.ulu!$ he curriculum $ill com%rise courses of study as given in section 12 infra in
accordance $ith the %rescribed syllabi# #
(ii) El".*/"0$ 1very candidate shall o%t for seven courses from any one ma!or elective
stream in consultation $ith the 2ead of the +e%artment# he seven courses of the
elective stream shall be s%read over the different trimesters as sho$n in 3ection 12#
(iii) Su!!"( 1(+2".* 3 T"(! P)1"($ 1very candidate shall either underta0e a suitable
summer %ro!ect or %re%are a term %a%er in the summer vacation %receding the fourth
trimester in consultation $ith the faculty guide and the 2ead of the +e%artment# For the
term %a%er candidates $ill be e(%ected to identify* contact* and interact $ith %ractitioners*
researchers* venture/%rivate equity investors* and %ublic %olicy ma0ers to address an
im%ortant question or set of questions related to the to%ic that they have identified# 1ach
student* $ill frame a set of questions relevant to the %ro!ect* gather and analy)e data
a%%ro%riate to address those questions* dra$ conclusions* and %re%are both a $ritten
%a%er and oral %resentation of their assessment based on the research findings#
(iv) P(+2".* 4+(5$ 1very candidate shall underta0e a %ro!ect $or0 in the si(th trimester in
consultation $ith the faculty guide and the 2ead of the +e%artment# he %ro!ect $or0
shall be underta0en in an industrial / research organi)ation or in the college in
consultation $ith the faculty guide and the 2ead of the +e%artment# 4n case of %ro!ect
$or0 at industrial / research organi)ation* the same shall be !ointly su%ervised by a
faculty guide and an e(%ert from the organi)ation#
(v) C("'* )006&!"&*$ 1ach course is normally assigned a certain number of credits as
belo$5

(vi) M&!u! .("'*0$ For the a$ard of the degree* the candidate shall earn a minimum
number of total credits of 67 by %assing the %rescribed courses of study as given in
3ection 12#
(vii) M"'u! +7 &0*(u.*+&$ he medium of instruction* e(aminations* %ro!ect re%ort etc#
shall be 1nglish#
4% RE8UIREMENTS OF ATTENDANCE AND PROGRESS
i) A candidate $ill be deemed to have com%leted the study of any course in a trimester only if
(a) A candidate $ill be deemed to have com%leted the course of any trimester only if
he / she has satisfied the attendance requirements as %er the norms given

&inimum attendance in each sub!ect individually for eligibility to
a%%ear for trimester e(aminations in that sub!ect- 608#
An e(em%tion u% to 10 8 can be a$arded based on
recommendation of 29+ for %artici%ation in official co : e(tra curricular
activities* s%orts : games* %a%er or %ro!ect %resentation etc#
An e(em%tion u% to 108 can be a$arded in e(ce%tional cases on medical
grounds on recommendation of the 29+#
(b) his/her %rogress has been satisfactory and
(c) his/her conduct has been satisfactory#
ii) "andidates $ho do not qualify to a%%ear for final e(aminations of any sub!ect in a
trimester for $ant of attendance and/or %rogress and / or conduct have to register for and
redo that sub!ect at the ne(t immediate available o%%ortunity sub!ect to the a%%roval of
+irector of echnical 1ducation and Anna University* "oimbatore#
9% PROCEDURE FOR COMPLETING THE PROGRAMME
A candidate $ill be %ermitted to %roceed to the courses of study of any trimester only if
he/she has satisfied the requirements of attendance* %rogress and conduct in res%ect of
the %receding trimester and had %aid fees for that trimester#
6% PROCEDURE FOR RE:OINING THE PROGRAMME
A candidate $ho is required to re%eat the study of any trimester for $ant of
%rogress/conduct or $ho desires to re!oin the course after a %eriod of discontinuance or
$ho u%on his/her o$n request is %ermitted by the authorities to re%eat the study of any
trimester* may !oin the trimester $hich he/she is eligible or %ermitted to !oin* only at the
time of its normal commencement for a regular batch of candidates and after obtaining
the a%%roval from the +irector of echnical 1ducation and Anna University* "oimbatore#
;o candidate $ill ho$ever be enrolled in more than one trimester at any time# 4n the
case of re%eaters* the mar0s secured earlier in the re%eated courses $ill be disregarded#

;% ASSESSMENT AND PASSING RE8UIREMENTS
(i) A00"00!"&*$ he assessment $ill com%rise of final e(amination and /or continuous
assessment* carrying mar0s as s%ecified in the scheme in section 12 infra# "ontinuous
assessment mar0s $ill be made as %er the guidelines framed by the "ollege from time to
time# All assessment $ill be done on absolute mar0 basis# 2o$ever* for the %ur%ose of
re%orting the %erformance of a candidate* letter grades and grade %oints $ill be a$arded
as %er section 7(iv)#
(ii) F&)l E,)!&)*+&0$ Final e(aminations $ill normally be conducted during 9ctober /
;ovember* <anuary / February and A%ril / &ay of each year#
A candidate $ill be %ermitted to a%%ear at the final e(amination of a trimester only if
he/she has com%leted the study of that trimester satisfying the requirements given in
3ection . and registers simultaneously for the e(aminations of the highest trimester
eligible and all the courses $hich he/she has to reregister for#
A candidate $ho is not %ermitted to a%%ear at the final e(amination of any sub!ect has to
register for and redo the courses of that trimester at the ne(t available o%%ortunity#
(iii) Su!!"( 1(+2".* )&' 1(+2".* 4+(5$ 1very candidate shall submit re%orts on summer
%ro!ect (4f a%%licable) and %ro!ect $or0 on dates announced by the college / de%artment
through the faculty guide to the 2ead of the +e%artment# 4f a candidate fails to submit the
re%orts on the summer training or the %ro!ect $or0* he/she is deemed to have failed in it#
1very candidate shall %resent seminars in each of the relevant trimesters about the
summer %ro!ect and the %ro!ect $or0# he seminars shall be %resented before a revie$
committee constituted by the 2ead of the +e%artment#
he summer %ro!ect and the %ro!ect $or0 $ill be evaluated based on the seminars*
re%orts and viva-voce e(aminations#
4n case of the summer %ro!ect* evaluation $ill be carried out in the fourth trimester and
the results of the same $ill be included along $ith the other courses of that trimester#
4n case of the %ro!ect $or0* the viva-voce e(amination $ill be carried out by a team
consisting of an internal e(aminer* usually the su%ervisor* and an e(ternal e(aminer*
a%%ointed by the =rinci%al# +ue $eightage $ill be given to the %ublications arising out of
the %ro!ect $or0 during the evaluation of the %ro!ect $or0#
A candidate $ho fails in the summer training or the %ro!ect $or0 shall register for redoing
the same at the beginning of a subsequent trimester#
iv) L"**"( G()'" )&' G()'" P+&*$ 1ach student* based on his/ her %erformance* $ill be
a$arded a final letter grade and grade %oint as given in the table infra for each course at
the end of each trimester by follo$ing
>1? @elative Arading 3ystem for theory courses $hich have continuous assessment

>2? Absolute Arading 3ystem for all other courses including summer %ro!ect $or0
and %ro!ect $or0
a. Relative Grading System
4n relative grading system* the grades are a$arded to the students based on their
%erformance relative to the others as detailed belo$#

For each course* the total mar0* M > & is equal to ("ontinuous Assessment mar0s ("A) B
Final e(amination mar0s (F1)) in the case of theory courses or "A in the case of courses
$ith 1008 continuous assessment com%onent ? is com%uted for each student and a
frequency table of mar0s for the $hole class of strength* n is %re%ared# he statistical
%arameters mean* and standard deviation* of the distribution of mar0s are arrived as
given belo$5

After the com%letion of the %rogramme* the "umulative Arade =oint Average ("A=A)
from the trimester in $hich the candidate has !oined first to the final trimester is calculated

A candidate* $ho is absent for the final e(amination or $ithdra$s from final e(amination
or secures a letter grade F (Arade %oint 0) in any course has to register for and redo the

A candidate $ho is absent in the final trimester e(amination of a course after registering
for the same $ill be considered to have a%%eared and failed in that e(amination and
a$arded grade F#
For courses evaluated under grading %attern candidates $ill be a$arded Aood /
3atisfactory / Unsatisfactory grades# 4t is essential for a student to get atleast Aood or
3atisfactory results to %ass in those sub!ects# =assing in these sub!ects is mandatory for
com%leting the course successfully# A candidate $ho scores Unsatisfactory grade in
grading sub!ects has to register for and redo the course at the ne(t available o%%ortunity#
@% 8UALIFYING FOR THE AAARD OF DEGREE
A candidate $ill be declared to have qualified for the a$ard of the &'A degree %rovided

(i) he/she has successfully com%leted the course requirements and has %assed all the
%rescribed courses of study listed in 3ection 12 $ithin the duration s%ecified in 3ection 2
and
(ii) ;o disci%linary action is %ending against the candidate#
9% CLASSIFICATION OF DEGREE
(i) F(0* Cl)00 4*> D0*&.*+&$ A candidate $ho qualifies for the a$ard of degree vide
3ection 6 having %assed all the courses of all the trimesters at the first o%%ortunity $ithin
si( consecutive trimesters (nine consecutive trimesters for %art time) after the
commencement of his /her study and securing a "A=A of 6#C0 and above shall be
declared to have %assed in First "lass $ith +istinction# For this %ur%ose the $ithdra$al
from e(amination (vide 3ection 6) $ill not be construed as an o%%ortunity for a%%earance
in the e(amination# Further* the authori)ed brea0 of study (vide 3ection 11) $ill not be
counted for the %ur%ose of classification#
(ii) F(0* Cl)00$ A candidate $ho qualifies for the a$ard of degree vide 3ection 6 having
%assed all the courses of all the trimesters $ithin a ma(imum %eriod of nine consecutive
trimesters (t$elve consecutive trimesters for %art time) after commencement of his /her
study and securing a "A=A of ,#C0 and above shall be declared to have %assed in First
"lass# For this %ur%ose* the authori)ed brea0 of study (vide 3ection 11) $ill not be
counted for the %ur%ose of classification#
(iii) S".+&' Cl)00$ All other candidates $ho qualify for the a$ard of degree vide 3ection 6
shall be declared to have %assed in 3econd "lass#
10% AITHDRAAAL FROM EBAMINATION
(i) A candidate may* for valid reasons* be granted %ermission to $ithdra$ from a%%earing for
the e(amination in any course or courses of only one trimester e(amination during the
entire duration of the degree %rogramme# Also* only one a%%lication for $ithdra$al is
%ermitted for that trimester e(amination in $hich $ithdra$al is sought#
(ii) Dithdra$al a%%lication shall be valid only if the candidate is other$ise eligible to $rite the
e(amination and if it is made %rior to the commencement of the trimester e(aminations
and also recommended by the 2ead of the +e%artment and the =rinci%al#
11% TEMPORARY BREAC OF STUDY
(i) A candidate is not normally %ermitted to tem%orarily brea0 the study# 2o$ever* if a
candidate intends to tem%orarily discontinue the %rogramme in the middle for valid
reasons (such as accident or hos%itali)ation due to %rolonged ill health) and to re!oin the
%rogramme in a later res%ective trimester he/she shall a%%ly to the =rinci%al in advance*
in any case* not later than the last $or0ing day of the trimester in question* through the
2ead of the +e%artment and stating the reasons there for#
(ii) A candidate %ermitted for brea0 of study shall re!oin the %rogramme at the res%ective
trimester as and $hen it is offered after the brea0 and shall be governed by the rules and
regulations in force at the time of re!oining#
(iii) he duration s%ecified for %assing all the courses for the %ur%ose of classification (vide
3ections 9 (i) and (ii)) shall be increased by the %eriod of such brea0 of study %ermitted#
(iv) he total %eriod for com%letion of the %rogramme rec0oned from the commencement of
the trimester to $hich the candidate $as first admitted shall not e(ceed the ma(imum

%eriod s%ecified in 3ection 2 irres%ective of the %eriod of brea0 of study in order that
he/she may be qualified for the a$ard of the degree#
(v) 4f any candidate is detained for non-com%letion of study of a trimester vide 3ection C* the
%eriod of such detention shall not be considered as %ermitted brea0 of study and 3ection
11 (iii) is not a%%licable for such case#

(For the batches of candidates admitted in 2009-2010 and subsequently)
NOTE$ he regulations hereunder are sub!ect to amendments as may be made by the Academic "ouncil of the
"ollege from time to time# Any or all such amendments $ill be effective from such date and to such batches of

candidates (including those already in the middle of the %rogramme) as may be decided by the Academic
"ouncil#
1% CONDITIONS FOR ADMISSION
(i) "andidates for admission to the %rogramme leading to the degree of &aster of 'usiness
Administration (&'A) shall be required to have %assed any degree e(amination of Anna
University or any other e(amination of any recogni)ed University or authority acce%ted by
Anna University* "oimbatore as equivalent thereto* sub!ect to amendments as may be
made by the Anna University from time to time# he candidates shall also be required to
satisfy all other conditions of admission thereto %rescribed by the Anna University*
"oimbatore#
(ii) =art-time candidates should satisfy other conditions regarding e(%erience* s%onsorshi%*
%lace of $or0 etc# that may be %rescribed by Anna University* "oimbatore from time to
time* in addition to satisfying requirements as in 3ection 1(i)#
-% DURATION OF THE PROGRAMME
(i) M&!u! 'u()*+&$ he %rogramme leading to the +egree of &aster of 'usiness
Administration (&'A) $ill e(tend over a %eriod of 9 $ith - trimesters %er academic year#
(ii) M),!u! 'u()*+&$ he candidate shall com%lete all the %assing requirements of the
&'A degree %rogramme $ithin a ma(imum %eriod of , years / 16* these %eriods being
rec0oned from the commencement of the trimester to $hich the candidate $as first
admitted#
-% STRUCTURE OF THE PROGRAMME
(i) Cu((.ulu!$ he curriculum $ill com%rise courses of study as given in section 12 infra in
accordance $ith the %rescribed syllabi# #
(ii) El".*/"0$ 1very candidate shall o%t for seven courses from any one ma!or elective
stream in consultation $ith the 2ead of the +e%artment# he seven courses of the
elective stream shall be s%read over the different trimesters as sho$n in 3ection 12#
(iii) Su!!"( 1(+2".* 3 T"(! P)1"($ 1very candidate shall either underta0e a suitable
summer %ro!ect or %re%are a term %a%er in the summer vacation %receding the seventh
trimester in consultation $ith the faculty guide and the 2ead of the +e%artment# For the
term %a%er candidates $ill be e(%ected to identify* contact* and interact $ith %ractitioners*
researchers* venture/%rivate equity investors* and %ublic %olicy ma0ers to address an
im%ortant question or set of questions related to the to%ic that they have identified# 1ach
student* $ill frame a set of questions relevant to the %ro!ect* gather and analy)e data
a%%ro%riate to address those questions* dra$ conclusions* and %re%are both a $ritten
%a%er and oral %resentation of their assessment based on the research findings#
(iv) P(+2".* 4+(5$ 1very candidate shall underta0e a %ro!ect $or0 in the ninth trimester in
consultation $ith the faculty guide and the 2ead of the +e%artment# he %ro!ect $or0
shall be underta0en in an industrial / research organi)ation or in the college in
consultation $ith the faculty guide and the 2ead of the +e%artment# 4n case of %ro!ect
$or0 at industrial / research organi)ation* the same shall be !ointly su%ervised by a
faculty guide and an e(%ert from the organi)ation#
(v) C("'* )006&!"&*$ 1ach course is normally assigned a certain number of credits as

number of total credits of 67 by %assing the %rescribed courses of study as given in
3ection 12#
(vii) M"'u! +7 &0*(u.*+&$ he medium of instruction* e(aminations* %ro!ect re%ort etc#
shall be 1nglish#
4% RE8UIREMENTS OF ATTENDANCE AND PROGRESS
i) A candidate $ill be deemed to have com%leted the study of any course in a trimester only if
(a) A candidate $ill be deemed to have com%leted the course of any trimester only if
he / she has satisfied the attendance requirements as %er the norms given
belo$5
&inimum attendance in each sub!ect individually for eligibility to
a%%ear for trimester e(aminations in that sub!ect- 608#
An e(em%tion u% to 10 8 can be a$arded based on
recommendation of 29+ for %artici%ation in official co : e(tra curricular
activities* s%orts : games* %a%er or %ro!ect %resentation etc#
An e(em%tion u% to 108 can be a$arded in e(ce%tional cases on medical
grounds on recommendation of the 29+#
(b) his/her %rogress has been satisfactory and
(c) his/her conduct has been satisfactory#
ii) "andidates $ho do not qualify to a%%ear for final e(aminations of any sub!ect in a
trimester for $ant of attendance and/or %rogress and / or conduct have to register for and
redo that sub!ect at the ne(t immediate available o%%ortunity sub!ect to the a%%roval of
+irector of echnical 1ducation and Anna University* "oimbatore#
9% PROCEDURE FOR COMPLETING THE PROGRAMME
A candidate $ill be %ermitted to %roceed to the courses of study of any trimester only if
he/she has satisfied the requirements of attendance* %rogress and conduct in res%ect of
the %receding trimester and had %aid fees for that trimester#
6% PROCEDURE FOR RE:OINING THE PROGRAMME
A candidate $ho is required to re%eat the study of any trimester for $ant of
%rogress/conduct or $ho desires to re!oin the course after a %eriod of discontinuance or
$ho u%on his/her o$n request is %ermitted by the authorities to re%eat the study of any
trimester* may !oin the trimester $hich he/she is eligible or %ermitted to !oin* only at the
time of its normal commencement for a regular batch of candidates and after obtaining
the a%%roval from the +irector of echnical 1ducation and Anna University* "oimbatore#
;o candidate $ill ho$ever be enrolled in more than one trimester at any time# 4n the
case of re%eaters* the mar0s secured earlier in the re%eated courses $ill be disregarded#
;% ASSESSMENT AND PASSING RE8UIREMENTS
(i) A00"00!"&*$ he assessment $ill com%rise of final e(amination and /or continuous

assessment* carrying mar0s as s%ecified in the scheme in section 12 infra# "ontinuous
assessment mar0s $ill be made as %er the guidelines framed by the "ollege from time to
time# All assessment $ill be done on absolute mar0 basis# 2o$ever* for the %ur%ose of
re%orting the %erformance of a candidate* letter grades and grade %oints $ill be a$arded
as %er section 7(iv)#
(ii) F&)l E,)!&)*+&0$ Final e(aminations $ill normally be conducted during 9ctober /
;ovember* <anuary / February and A%ril / &ay of each year#
A candidate $ill be %ermitted to a%%ear at the final e(amination of a trimester only if
he/she has com%leted the study of that trimester satisfying the requirements given in
3ection . and registers simultaneously for the e(aminations of the highest trimester
eligible and all the courses $hich he/she has to reregister for#
A candidate $ho is not %ermitted to a%%ear at the final e(amination of any sub!ect has to
register for and redo the courses of that trimester at the ne(t available o%%ortunity#
(iii) Su!!"( 1(+2".* )&' 1(+2".* 4+(5$ 1very candidate shall submit re%orts on summer
%ro!ect (4f a%%licable) and %ro!ect $or0 on dates announced by the college / de%artment
through the faculty guide to the 2ead of the +e%artment# 4f a candidate fails to submit the
re%orts on the summer training or the %ro!ect $or0* he/she is deemed to have failed in it#
1very candidate shall %resent seminars in each of the relevant trimesters about the
summer %ro!ect and the %ro!ect $or0# he seminars shall be %resented before a revie$
committee constituted by the 2ead of the +e%artment#
he summer %ro!ect and the %ro!ect $or0 $ill be evaluated based on the seminars*
re%orts and viva-voce e(aminations#
4n case of the summer %ro!ect* evaluation $ill be carried out in the seventh trimester and
the results of the same $ill be included along $ith the other courses of that trimester#
4n case of the %ro!ect $or0* the viva-voce e(amination $ill be carried out by a team
consisting of an internal e(aminer* usually the su%ervisor* and an e(ternal e(aminer*
a%%ointed by the =rinci%al# +ue $eightage $ill be given to the %ublications arising out of
the %ro!ect $or0 during the evaluation of the %ro!ect $or0#
A candidate $ho fails in the summer training or the %ro!ect $or0 shall register for redoing
the same at the beginning of a subsequent trimester#
iv) L"**"( G()'" )&' G()'" P+&*$ 1ach student* based on his/ her %erformance* $ill be
a$arded a final letter grade and grade %oint as given in the table infra for each course at
the end of each trimester by follo$ing

4n relative grading system* the grades are a$arded to the students based on their

3atisfactory / Unsatisfactory grades# 4t is essential for a student to get atleast Aood or
3atisfactory results to %ass in those sub!ects# =assing in these sub!ects is mandatory for
com%leting the course successfully# A candidate $ho scores Unsatisfactory grade in
grading sub!ects has to register for and redo the course at the ne(t available o%%ortunity#
@% 8UALIFYING FOR THE AAARD OF DEGREE
A candidate $ill be declared to have qualified for the a$ard of the &'A degree %rovided
(i) he/she has successfully com%leted the course requirements and has %assed all the
%rescribed courses of study listed in 3ection 12 $ithin the duration s%ecified in 3ection 2
and
(ii) ;o disci%linary action is %ending against the candidate#

9% CLASSIFICATION OF DEGREE
(i) F(0* Cl)00 4*> D0*&.*+&$ A candidate $ho qualifies for the a$ard of degree vide
3ection 6 having %assed all the courses of all the trimesters at the first o%%ortunity $ithin
si( consecutive trimesters (nine consecutive trimesters for %art time) after the
commencement of his /her study and securing a "A=A of 6#C0 and above shall be
declared to have %assed in First "lass $ith +istinction# For this %ur%ose the $ithdra$al
from e(amination (vide 3ection 6) $ill not be construed as an o%%ortunity for a%%earance
in the e(amination# Further* the authori)ed brea0 of study (vide 3ection 11) $ill not be
counted for the %ur%ose of classification#
(ii) F(0* Cl)00$ A candidate $ho qualifies for the a$ard of degree vide 3ection 6 having
%assed all the courses of all the trimesters $ithin a ma(imum %eriod of nine consecutive
trimesters (t$elve consecutive trimesters for %art time) after commencement of his /her
study and securing a "A=A of ,#C0 and above shall be declared to have %assed in First
"lass# For this %ur%ose* the authori)ed brea0 of study (vide 3ection 11) $ill not be
counted for the %ur%ose of classification#
(iii) S".+&' Cl)00$ All other candidates $ho qualify for the a$ard of degree vide 3ection 6
shall be declared to have %assed in 3econd "lass#
10% AITHDRAAAL FROM EBAMINATION
(i) A candidate may* for valid reasons* be granted %ermission to $ithdra$ from a%%earing for
the e(amination in any course or courses of only one trimester e(amination during the
entire duration of the degree %rogramme# Also* only one a%%lication for $ithdra$al is
%ermitted for that trimester e(amination in $hich $ithdra$al is sought#
(ii) Dithdra$al a%%lication shall be valid only if the candidate is other$ise eligible to $rite the
e(amination and if it is made %rior to the commencement of the trimester e(aminations
and also recommended by the 2ead of the +e%artment and the =rinci%al#
11% TEMPORARY BREAC OF STUDY
(iii) A candidate is not normally %ermitted to tem%orarily brea0 the study# 2o$ever* if a
candidate intends to tem%orarily discontinue the %rogramme in the middle for valid
reasons (such as accident or hos%itali)ation due to %rolonged ill health) and to re!oin the
%rogramme in a later res%ective trimester he/she shall a%%ly to the =rinci%al in advance*
in any case* not later than the last $or0ing day of the trimester in question* through the
2ead of the +e%artment and stating the reasons there for#
(iv) A candidate %ermitted for brea0 of study shall re!oin the %rogramme at the res%ective
trimester as and $hen it is offered after the brea0 and shall be governed by the rules and
regulations in force at the time of re!oining#
(iii) he duration s%ecified for %assing all the courses for the %ur%ose of classification (vide
3ections 9 (i) and (ii)) shall be increased by the %eriod of such brea0 of study %ermitted#
(iv) he total %eriod for com%letion of the %rogramme rec0oned from the commencement of
the trimester to $hich the candidate $as first admitted shall not e(ceed the ma(imum
%eriod s%ecified in 3ection 2 irres%ective of the %eriod of brea0 of study in order that
he/she may be qualified for the a$ard of the degree#

(v) 4f any candidate is detained for non-com%letion of study of a trimester vide 3ection C* the
%eriod of such detention shall not be considered as %ermitted brea0 of study and 3ection
11 (iii) is not a%%licable for such case#
