INTRODUCTION
Introduction
BEFORE YOU START
The symbols as presented here are for use when drawing in the horizontal mode. All the symbols are of course
available for use in the vertical drawing mode. If, however, you draw in the vertical mode, the direction
information in the manual will not be in agreement with that appearing on the screen. To the right will become
downward, to the left will become upward etc. The insertion points for the symbols will agree with those shown
in the manual for both the vertical and the horizontal drawing modes.
The symbols in ELPROCAD are based on the standards IEC 617 or IEC 1082. The default setting of symbol
standard is symbols in accordance with IEC 1082 and it is these symbols which are shown in this manual.
Change the symbol standard under the tab General in the dialog box for ELPROCAD Settings.
The following is a list of attributes which can occur:
Text in dialog box Attribute tag Explanation
Function designation BET2 Function-oriented item designation
Item designation BET1 Item designation
Type TYP Apparatus type (from database)
Location PLAC Specifies location of an apparatus
Serves EGET1 Optional question, used as comment
Note EGET2 Optional question, used as comment
Terminal 1-6 UTTAG1-6 Terminal designations on apparatus
Database LIB Specifies which database is to be used
Accessory TBH Accessories linked to the apparatus
Cross-reference XREF Field for cross-reference
To change these texts later, use the commands for attribute editing in the Electrical schematics toolbar under
Attribute functions. See otherwise the manual for Instructions and tips.
The contents of this manual are the same, irrespective of which program you use, Basic or Pro. To be able to
make use of the extra functionality provided with Pro, you mujst read the text below. The commands which are
only available in Pro are presented in a separate section of the manual.
The text below, on this page, applies only to Pro:
When you insert a symbol and respond with the button with a question mark (?) in the dialog box Enter attribute
to the attributes for Type or Accessories, you gain access to the apparatus database and can select the apparatus
required directly. You can also use this procedure if you only wish to check which units of apparatus the data-
base contains. The database field Manufacturer must be filled in for this function to be available.
You can also use this procedure with respect to Location to access a location already used. When responding to
the request for Item designation for contacts and terminals, you can choose between designations from apparatus
with the same location. Signal names already used are shown for signals.
When entering and editing a contact, you can access terminal data directly from a defined contact diagram in the
apparatus database. If you respond with the button with a question mark (?) to the attributes for terminal desig-
nation, a dialog box appears in which the terminal combinations available for the contactor type selected are
shown. Designations already in use are marked with an asterisk *.

here are two different types of module toolbars in ELPROCAD. One type contains flyouts which appear when
you hold the mouse button depressed and which are identified by a small black triangle on the icon button. If you
click once on the button in the module toolbar or on the first button on the underlying toolbar, the corresponding
icon menu for the symbols is presented. An example of such a menu is shown below:
the screen.. The menus and buttons at the top of the screen are not normally needed for drawing electrical
diagrams and are therefore not described in this manual. Descriptions of these functions are available on-line
under the Help menu. They are briefly described by tool tips ob
short time over the different buttons.
All the ELPROCAD symbols are to be found in one of the toolbars for the modules Circuit diagram, Assembly
drawing, External connection diagram or Single line diagram.
T
The other type of module toolbar opens a new toolbar with a group of symbols when you click on one of the
buttons. If you are to insert more symbols from a certain group, you can leave this toolbar open which makes the
symbols easier to access. Read further about toolbars and how you select symbols in the manual Instructions and
tips.

PROJECT FUNCTIONS

ICON DESCRIPTION COMMENTS
Open sheet in project
This command is used to open a sheet. The difference between this and the
normal Open command is that this function keeps record of which drawings
are included in your project i.e. the diagram sheets which are analysed and
presents only these. The sheet number of the drawing is presented in the
dialog box together with another field (attribute) from your drawing form.
You determine which field this is to be with the command Attribute in the
menu Alternative in the program window ELPROCAD LT Pro Project.
Read further in the manual Instructions and tips.
Project automation
This command enables you to chose from three functions: analysis of
drawings, updating of cross references and the printing of drawings. The
selection can be made clicking All or Marked drawings included in the
project. Drawings included in the project are those which have been analysed
previously. It is possible to combine the functions in a sequence.
By clicking OK you start a script which executes the functions.
The box Run script contains several scripts provided with the program but
you can also make your own. Read further in the manual Instructions and
tips.

Analyse
All the attributes are extracted when the drawing is analysed. To be able to
perform an analysis, a project must have been created and the analysis then
performed is of the current drawing and the file which you have selected.
When an analysis is performed, an extract file, a so-called attribute file which
reflects the information on the drawing is created. Information about the
symbols on the drawing and the current sheet number and an extra field from
the drawing are stored in conjuction with the analysis. The extra field is
determined with the command Attributes in the menu Options in the program
window ELPROCAD LT Pro - Project. Read further in the manual
Instructions and tips.
The success of the analysis is confirmed or any errors detected are presented
in a dialog box.
NOTE! Before closing a drawing, always perform an analysis. This is
to ensure that the latest information is stored in the project
data base.
Cross-reference
Cross references transfer information from the project database back to the
current drawing. The references for contacts, tables/contact symbols and
signal references are updated. Only information stored in the project database
after an analysis is updated. Successful updating is confirmed, any errors
detected are presented in a dialog box.
You should always update the cross references for all drawings before exiting
from the project.
NOTE! The project database does not contain complete information
about all references until you have analysed all drawings in
your project.
Show error report
You can always obtain the result of your latest analysis or updating of cross-
references with this command. Information from the project preparation is
also shown in this window.
Cross check
When this command is selected, a complete analysis of the cross-references
is performed for the entire project, i.e. all the sheets which have been
analysed previously. The cross-references, however, are not updated in the
drawings. A report of any errors detected is given in ELPROCAD LT Pro
Project after the check performed. Error messages and explanations of these
can be read in the manual Instructions and tips. This provides you with the
opportunity of correcting any error before the cross-references are written
into your project.

COILS
GENERAL
Mark the required location and adjust/fill in the attributes which appear in the dialog box. To change these texts
later, use the commands for attribute editing in the Electrical schematics toolbar under Attribute functions.
You can, when inserting a coil, obtain terminal data directly from a defined contact diagram in the apparatus
database. If you click on the button with the question mark (?) when the attribute for Type is marked, a dialog
box appears in which the apparatus available in the apparatus database is presented. The units of apparatus which
have defined terminal data appear under the heading Contacts.
If you have not yet defined the contact symbol in the apparatus database, you must now insert a contact symbol
with the functions in the toolbar Contact symbols.

Extra terminal
This function makes it possible to specifiy extra terminals for, for examples, voltage
supply and a bus connection. The number of extra terminals depends on how many

Fixed number of I/O
A fixed number of inputs/outputs can be specified in connection with import. This
means that if you import fewer I/O than the fixed number specified, the remaining
I/O will be inserted with the comment Reserve.
