EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

With the infusion of the multimedia technology into the education arena, traditional
educational materials can be translated into interactive electronic form through the
use of multimedia authoring tools. This has allowed teachers to design and
incorporate multimedia elements into the content to convey the message in a multi-
sensory learning environment. The focus in education is thus moving towards using
multimedia as the instructional media and a platform in teaching and learning. This
project focuses on using the multimedia design process to enable educators to re-
design their educational curricula into an interactive and media-rich learning
environment. This multimedia educational design process will reinforce and
strengthen the traditional instructional communication process and foster a number
of innovative methods to communicate knowledge to the learners. In this context,
there is a need to adjust the educators approach to teaching, preparing content
and delivering learning materials.

"t the end of this course student will know and should be able to use&
a+ "uto!"# is a computer aided drafting and design software from "utodesk Inc.
It is widely used in various applications including all engineering fields.

i. designs can be made 9uickly0
ii. designers can design without thinking how to design0
iii. drawings produced are consistent and mistakes can be minimi:ed0
iv. all angles of a drawing can be shown0 and
v. any changes to drawings can be made easily.
c+ The advantages of drawing using "uto!"# compare conventional drawing &

4.0 IMPACT OF TE MULTIMEDIA PRODUCT
2any people argue that interactive multimedia has the potential to create
high 9uality learning environments which actively engage the learner, thereby
promoting deep learning. .owever there is growing evidence that the potential of
interactive multimedia is not being fulfilled.
This interactive multimedia projects suggested that if we are to design
effective interactive learning application then a user-centre approach to their design
should be taken. This approach should be based on general human-computer
interaction principles as well as educational theory.
The interactive multimedia projects starts with an overview of the learning
process. !onsideration is then given to how the key elements of interactive
multimedia *multiple media, user control over the delivery of information, and
interactivity+ can be used to enhance that process, with the emphasis being on
promoting deep learning.
