Highly experienced and achievement orientated GIS specialist, I offer a wealth of contributions and accomplishments in Australia and the USA spanning 16 years. I write with great interest to be considered for the above career opportunity to develop and deliver the Australian Governments response to global climate change as an active and constructive participant in international climate change negotiations.
Whilst working with solar companies at the most senior levels and with Energy Response, I have acquired a clear understanding of the adoption challenges that we face in transitioning to a less carbon-intensive economy. Additionally I am a results-driven and capable Senior Manager and leader, proficient working with Boards, having led five companies and served on the boards of a further four. Having initially studied climate change law in 1999 and actively contributed in the field since, I have a strong understanding of climate change science, policy, law, politics and social implications. I have gained advanced expertise in the businesses, technologies and services that will be required to ameliorate climate change and mitigate its impacts.
As detailed in my attached rsum, I have utilised my diverse expertise in renewable energy in senior management, finance and strategy roles including in my current position as Director of Smart Energy Ventures, actively leading the firms cleantech initiatives. My investment activity has primarily been in the renewable energy sector with major contributions at Ausra, an Australian-originated solar thermal company and Energy Response, which facilitates feeding renewable energy into electricity networks. Prior to joining Smart Energy Ventures, I was Director of New Ventures at Supersmart, a California-based firm that incubates and invests in technology start-up companies during which time I focused on commercialising new energy technologies.
Previous contributions include my role as Operations Manager of H2Onsite, recruited to lead a hydrogen generation technology company. Additionally, I was a Consultant to various venture and energy companies in Silicon Valley, California where I met numerous challenges such as redefining strategies and business models, leading business development, fundraising and developing energy technology investment strategies. Other roles have included COO of DMFCC, a micro fuel cell company and Co-Founder, Bright Spark Marketing and CFO of a software company, Aurora Database Systems, building the business from zero to fifty five employees over six years, raising US$45MM of top-tier venture capital and debt, eventually merging with a public company. Having acquired a strong international network in the renewable energy sector successfully securing top tier venture capital investments, I have inspired and aided companies to grow as an independent investor, consultant and advisor from inception through to profitable growth.
Keen to play a pivotal role in the establishment, leadership and day-to-day management of this new advisory statutory authority reporting directly to the Board, I offer a proven track record of results in managing large scale projects involving cutting edge technology and high risks, confident in my ability to represent The Climate Change Authority. Furthermore, I am a highly skilled and articulate communicator in stakeholder engagement, with media and communication strategy development experience.
