Cal Ripken League Champs & Good Sports as well

First Community Bank claimed the Cal Ripken City
League Tournament last night, and they had to do it
the hard way. After losing their opening game of the
tournament to CHMS, FCB came storming all the
way through the back door, beating CHMS in the
first championship game on Sunday afternoon 10-1
and cleaning up on CHMS Monday evening, 20-2.
The FCB champions are, front row: Jordan Plummer,

Mo Fast, Cooper Larson, Chase Guttenberg, Saul

Hansen, Colton Fast and Vincent Chappell. Back
row: Walker Laumeyer, Ty Kittleson, Coach Mike
Nieskens, Dylan Nieskens and Coach Jeff Larson.
Not only did they win the league title, these fine
young fellows also received the Sportsmanship
plaque held by Guttenberg. Cal Ripken baseball now
continues on with the All-Star teams, 12U and 10U.

Dyrland lands Feda Scholarship

A career in diesel technology is on the horizon for

Shandi Dyrland of Glentana as she begins studies at
MSU Northern this fall. A $1,500 scholarship from the
Feda Scholarship for the Trades will help her meet that
goal.
Dyrland is a 2014 graduate of Opheim High
School where she was active in school organizations
and athletics, serving leadership positions in many. A
passion for working with diesel equipment learned from
her father helped to focus her future plans. Following
college graduation, she plans to seek employment as a
diesel mechanic with a farm equipment dealership or in
the oil fields.
Audrey and Gerry Feda of Glasgow established
the scholarship to benefit graduating seniors in Valley
County who are pursuing post-secondary education
in the trades. Scholarships have been awarded to seven
students since 2009 and Dyrland is the first recipient
from Opheim.
The Valley County Community Foundation
administers the scholarship and applications for 2015
will be available next spring.

Chelseas doing quite fine...

How much was Chelsea Clinton making per

year during her time at NBC? $600,000 a year. What
is the median salary for a journalist working in the
U.S.? According to the BLS, it is $37,090 a year. In
other words, Chelsea despite lacking substantial
professional experience as a journalist gained an
extremely lucrative salary at one of the nations most
famous journalism outlets.

In fact, Barack Obama was making $400,000 a year
as President, while Clinton was making $600,000 a year
as a new journalist.
Clinton had worked as an analyst at a New York
hedge fund before, but then switched over to working
at NBC. Now she is on a month-to-month contract with
NBC instead of the $600,00 a year. Why? According to
Politico, it is because NBC wanted to be able to sever ties
with her if Hillary Clinton ran as President. Chelsea has
also been working at the Clinton Foundation, which is
now her primary job, although IRS filings indicate that
the position is unpaid.

Many in the media criticized NBC for choosing her
to work the job with no prior professional journalism
experience; this was even before it was known that she
would be raking in cash to the tune of $600,000 a year.
Itd be interesting to compare and see how much
NBC pays Jenna (Bush) Hager, daughter of George and
Barbara Bush, whos had a contract with NBC since
2009 for segments produced for the Today Show.

Blue Jays sweep the Reds

The Glasgow Reds American Legion boys of

summer are in Montanas Magic City where they lost
both games of a double header with the Billings Blue
Jays, getting blanked 5-0 and losing the night cap 10-4
to put their overall record at 17-3.
The Reds were to face the Billings Cardinals this
afternoon (weather permitting) at 1:00 and 3:00. Then
its a quick jaunt over to Laurel tomorrow to face the
Dodgers before heading to the Harold Gjerde Memorial
Tournament in Lewistown.
