services in Sri Lanka. The analyses are carried out by scientists and trained technicians together with the
guidance of laboratory management who has years of relevant industrial expertise and experience. For
more than fifty years, CML has been offering a wide range of analytical laboratory testing, training,

The CML of ITI specializes in the pre-shipment sampling of products and analysis of foods, toys and

regulations and labeling requirements of the target country, as well as to conduct related quality

1. The first state laboratory in Sri Lanka to be awarded the ASTEL (Accreditation Scheme for Testing
Laboratories) accreditation for common water and wastewater parameters in July 1999.
2. The first state laboratory to be awarded the ISO 17025 accreditation by SWEDAC (Swedish Board
for Accreditation and Conformity Assessment) for microbiological and chemical parameters in water,
waste water, food and agro products in June 2002

Water and Wastewater
laboratories of CML offer a variety of tests for quantification of chemical and physical parameters in water
and waste water in compliance with ISO 17025 quality system.
We analyze Potable water, Effluent and Processing water, Industrial water and Environmental water
(ground, surface, river and sea water). We also perform testing of industrial chemicals, waste and sludge.
The unit also carries out sampling and analysis of wastewater, ambient air, stack emissions and solid
waste to ensure compliance with national environmental requirements and regulations.

Quality Assurance at CML
Quality Assurance of services at CML assures the accuracy and precision, as well as the reliability of
laboratory results produced for our customers or at the request of regulatory or accrediting bodies.
Management, administrative, statistical, investigative, preventive, and corrective techniques are used to
maximize reliability of the data, and comply with ISO 17025. We participate in Proficiency testing
programs conducted by Food Analysis Performance Assessment Scheme (FAPAS), Asia Pacific
Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (APLAC), Proficiency Testing Australia (PTA), and National Food
Administration (NFA).
