REDUCED GLUTATHIONE
FOR INJECTION
with Sterilized Water
Product Description
Each vial contains glutathione sodium 646mg equivalent to
glutathione 600 mg
Pharmacodynamic properties
Glutathione is a physiological tripeptide – a chain of three amino
acids-cystein, glycine and glutamic acid; and irreversibly
consumed in the detoxification of electrophilic metabolites and
xenobiotics. It is a very efficient free radical scavenger and
protects cells from the noxious effects of reactive oxygen
compound.
Indication
Treatment of alcohol-associative liver diseases (alcoholic fatty
liver, alcoholic liver fibrosis, alcoholic liver cirrhosis, and acute
alcoholic hepatitis)
As an emergency antidote in treatment of poisoning by
radiotherapy, drugs and chemicals (chemotherapeutic drugs,
antituberculosis drugs, neurolytics, antidepressant, analgesics
and antipyretics)
Posology and mode of administration
Mild: 300-600mg slow IV or IM daily
Severe: 600-1200mg slow IV or IM daily
The dosage, however, is dependent on age, weight and clinical
conditions of the patient and should also be related to the dose
and the administration schedule of the chemotherapeutic agent.
In case of simultaneous administration of glutathione and the
chemotherapeutic agent, the intravenous use: Dissolve
lyophilised powder infusion should be completely administered
within 1-2 hours. Intramuscular use: Dissolve 0.3 lyophilised
powder with 3ml water for injection(reconstituted solution
contains 100 mg/ml of glutathione); dissolve 0.6g lyophilized
powder with 4ml water for injection (reconstituted solution
contains 150mg/ml of glutathione)
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity
Precautions
Products for parental use should be visually inspected before
administration, when the container or solution makes it possible,
in order to possibly detect the presence of particles or of an
abnormal colour. Do not use in case of presence of turbidity or
precipitates.
Interactions
Vitamine k3, Vitamine B12, Calcium Pantothenate, orotic acid,
antihistamines, sulfanilamides and tetracycline can affect the
bioavailability of glutathione. In the absence of compatibility
studies, glutathione should not be mixed with other products.
Undesirable effects
After intramuscular administration, rare instances of skin rash
have been reported which have disappeared after discontinuation
of treatment.
Overdosage
No cases of overdosage have been reported. If needed,
symptomatic treatments may be employed.
Storage
Store below 30 C. Constituted solutions of glutathione maintain
satisfactory potency at room temperature (up to 25 C)up to 8
hours.
