Intermediate. Last year I went to East Taieri Primary School. I play hockey, basketball, touch, rippa, volleyball and futsal. I learn the piano and am in a beginners hip hop group. What I love about Balmac is: Technology, especially hard materials and art. I love all of the sport you can do at Balmacewen. I was in the Southland Sports exchange for touch and we won all of our games. If you are nervous about starting a new school, dont be, you will have a great time at Balmac everyone is really helpful. Make sure you get involved. Next year my friends and I will be year 8s and we will help you to find your way around the school.
Hi, Im Jacob. Im in room 3 at Balmacewen Intermediate. Last year I went to Balaclava Primary School. I play rugby touch and cricket. I am also in the choir and boys choir. I am in maths extension, I really enjoy the daily problem challenge. What I love about Balmac is: How everybody is so nice and welcoming. My highlight so far this year was camp. I love foods technology, the pizzas were awesome My advice for year 6 students: Intermediate is really fun. There is good range of sports. The students and teachers are all really nice. Hi, Im Dylan. Im in room 4 at Balmacewen Intermediate. Last year I went to Big Rock Primary School. I play rippa rugby, and I am looking forward to trying out for the year 7 rugby team. I am also learning the guitar at school this year and I am really enjoying it. I am part of the school enterprise group. We meet on a Thursday morning and are designing and marketing PE bags. What I love about Balmac is: There are so many more sports to choose from and I also love the boysenberry slurpies from the canteen. My advice to year 6 students: There are endless amounts of things you can do here. So if you are interested in something just go for it.
Hi, Im Ella. Im in room 1 at Balmacewen Intermediate. Last year I went to Balaclava Primary School. I play netball, basketball, futsal, girls soccer and volleyball. I learn the keyboard and am in the hard materials extension group where we are making a guitar stand. I really enjoy house sports on a Friday. Im in Lynn house and have made friends with some year 8s in my house group. My favourite house sport game is dodgeball What I love about Balmac is: I have made so many new friends from schools like East Taieri and Kaikorai. I love technology especially hard materials and fabrics. My advice to year 6 students: Dont be scared of the year 8s they are really nice and so helpful.
Hi, Im Angus. Im in Room 1 at Balmacewen Intermediate School. Last year I went to Elm Grove School. I have made a lot of new friends already and met up with people I knew from sports teams etc. I play touch, basketball, tennis, hockey and cricket. I represented the school at the Otago swimming champs. I went to Invercargill for the Southland Sports exchange for tennis and won 4/4 of my games. It was a great experience and I hope to be a part of the winter exchange. I learn the guitar. I love all of the opportunities and the huge range of sports at Balmacewen. I love the slurpies from the canteen. Technology is really fun. The scones we made were delicious. Advice for Year 6 students: Trust the teachers they know what they are doing. Hi, Im Xanthe. Im in room 5 at Balmacewen Intermediate. Last year I went to Bradford Primary School. I play netball, and I played volleyball in term 1. What I love about Balmac is: PE and house sports. I love whole school assemblies. Each class takes turns at running their own assembly and they do some pretty cool stuff. I love technology. Fabrics is my favourite and I am currently making a cushion for my bedroom. My advice to year 6 students: Dont choose a school just based on where your friends are going. Your friends might change. Ive made so many new friends from Elm Grove, Wakari, Mornington and Kaikorai. If you want to try out for something just go for it because you might not get another opportunity again.
Hi, Im Summer. Im in room 7 at Balmacewen Intermediate. Last year I went to Maori Hill Primary School. I play netball, waterpolo, girls football and girls cricket. I am learning guitar at school this year and I am part of the school choir, I am really enjoying it. Sophie and I have our own segment on our school tv show, Bal Air. My favourite thing so far this year was the beach ed day. Because you help your friends and you get to take part in heaps of cool activities My advice to year 6 students: Come to the open days to find out which school offers the types of activities that you like and would be interested in doing. Balmac is a great school and everyone is really nice and friendly.
Hi, Im Hannah. Im in room 3 at Balmacewen Intermediate. Last year I went to George Street Normal Primary School. I play girls football, touch and miniball and I represented the school at the Otago Swimming champs. I also won the Dunedin Primary Schools triathlon. I play flute in the school orchestra and am part of the choir and kapa haka groups. There are so many opportunities at Balmac, I am in the maths extension group and in the extension writing group which is a great challenge. I am the Deputy Class Councillor for our class What I love about Balmac is: There are so many opportunities. I really like technology and house sports. Im in Lynn house My advice to year 6 students: There are so many things you can be involved in at Balmac, be sure to try something new. Everyone is really nice and supportive.

I am also learning the guitar, piano and drums at school this year and I am really enjoying it. I am the student councillor for room 4. We are part of the school council and get to organise mufti days, fundraise for charities and organise other school events. What I love about Balmac is: The wide range of activities available, like robotics, chess, sports, hip hop, production, choir, kapa haka just to name a few. My advice to year 6 students: There are endless amounts of things you can do here. So if you are interested in something just go for it.
Hi, Im Walter. Im in room 24 at Balmacewen Intermediate. Last year I went to St Josephs Cathedral School. I play netball, miniball, cricket and waterpolo. I learnt the guitar in the first term I was lucky to have the chance to represent Balmac at the Otago Primary Schools triathlon earlier this year. It was great fun, and I got 2 nd
place. What I love about Balmac is: The sports. House sports is fun. Im in Shetland house. Weve got some really nice year 8s in our group who are really helpful. I also like the tech classes, my favourites are foods and fabrics My advice to year 6 students: There are so many opportunities waiting for you at intermediate. Make sure you take them and try something new. I was the only one in my class from my school and I have made heaps of great friends really easily.
