Football Tournament

2014RULES
IMPORTANT RULES
All referees are here on a voluntary basis and therefore players are encouraged to refrain from any
dissent & foul language toward them and fellow players before, during and/or after each game. The
referee has the power to penalise at his own discretion any player or team if these rules are not followed.
Any teams that arrive late to the tournament forfeit every game that has been or is in play at time of
arrival.
FOOTBALL KITS
Football boots (studs/blades) or AstroTurfs are strongly advised. If not possible then footwear with good grip.
Any shirts/tops are permitted for the outfeld players but they must be colour coded with your team (arrange
with your own team).
Goalkeeper wears colours which easily distinguish him from the other players in their team.
Shin pads are compulsory.
Goalkeepers gloves are compulsory.
All jewellery including watches and earrings must be removed during each game.
GAMEPLAY RULES
4 outfeld players and goalkeeper start each game.
The maximum number of substitutes permitted is three.
The number of substitutions made during a match is unlimited. A player who has been replaced may return to
the pitch as a substitute for another player only when ball is not in play.
Any of the other players, or substitutes, may change places with the goalkeeper. The following conditions
must be observed:
- Referee must be informed before the change is made.
- Change may only be made during a stoppage in play.
- The replacement goalkeeper must wear a jersey which distinguishes him from all other players
During gameplay the football is allowed any height.
The referee is the only person who decides when the ball is in play. Play will be bought back if referee has not
signalled for play to commence.
There is NO offside rule.
Kick-off will commence:
- At the start of every game.
- After a goal has been scored.
PLAYER RULES
For serious foul play/misconduct the referee can dismiss a player from the game. Play will resume with that
team a player short.
Warning procedures will be explained on the day, before tournament commences.
A Free Kick is awarded if a player from your own team commits a foul on a player of the opposing team.
The goalkeeper can only handle the ball inside their own area.
A penalty kick is awarded if the goalkeeper handles the ball outside the area at referees discretion.
The goalkeeper can distribute the ball with both hands and feet.
The goalkeeper does not play the ball a second time until it has touched another player from their own team.
A corner is awarded if the goalkeeper touches the ball again before 2 players have touched the ball from their
own team.
All outfeld players must be outside the area once goalkeeper has possession.
No players are allowed to go into the opposing teams area.
2 players including the goalkeeper are allowed in their own area at one time during gameplay.
If 3 or more players are in the box at one time during gameplay the referee at their discretion are entitled to
award an in-direct free kick outside the area.
While the football is in play the goalkeeper is allowed out of their area to join in with gameplay.
TOURNAMENT RULES
Group Stages
Teams will be put into groups.
Every team will play 1 match against each team in their groups.
The top 2 teams from each group will qualify to the quarter fnal.
During the group stages:
- 3 points are awarded for a win.
- 1 point is awarded for a draw.
- 0 points for a loss.
The teams that qualify will be put into a draw to determine who their next opponents are.
Should two or more teams be level on points after their group stage games, the team with a higher goal differ-
ence will qualify for the next round.
If that doesnt separate the teams, then the results between the tied teams are compared, then the goal differ-
ence and fnally the goals scored in the matches between the tied teams.
Quarter and Semi Finals
The team that wins their match will qualify for the next round.
If the scores are level at the end of the time limit, the game will be decided with a penalty shoot-out.
Penalty shoot-outs are best of fve rounds of kicks.
If at the end of these fve rounds of kicks the teams have scored an equal number of successful kicks, sudden
death rounds of one kick each are used until one side scores and the other does not.
Finals
The team that wins the match will be the Champions.
If time permits: The game will go into extra time if the scores are level after normal game time.
If the scores are level at the end of the time limit, the game will go into a Penalty Shoot-out to determine the
Champions.
