To grow in an orderly condition, plants, like humans, need some form of internal
coordination with suitable responses to their environment. Unlike humans, plants do not have a
nervous system and depend only on chemical coordination. Their responses often involve

A tropism is a movement of a plant part in response to and directed by an external
stimulus. The movement is almost always a growth movement.
