Working as a group, find the dimensions (Length, Width, Height) of the CUBE. You must EACH write down all of your
calculations and answers (to keep for reference when studying). Please show at least THREE (3) lines of work for each of
the unknown values, and clearly label your calculations.

Concluding Sentence:

1. What do we know that is special about the dimensions of a cube? The Diagram below is what a cube would look like
if you unfolded the sides and laid it flat on your table. Can you use the surface area of the entire cube that was given,
and the number of sides on a cube, to find the surface area of just ONE of its faces?

Area of ONE Face of the Cube = _______________________________________

2. Now that we know the surface area of one of the faces by itself, we can use factorisation to find the length and width
of the face. (Keep in mind that the shape is a CUBE, so its faces would be in the shape of a SQUARE).

ALL of the dimensions of the Cube = _______________________________________

1. We are looking for the dimensions of the RECTANGULAR sides of the prism. The first step to finding the dimensions
is to find the area of one of the rectangular sides (like you did in the Rubics Cube question). You already know the area
of ALL of the sides of the prism, as well as the area of ONE of the square faces. Use this information to find the area of
ALL RECTANGULAR FACES, and then divide by the NUMBER OF FACES.

Area of BOTH Square Faces = ___________________________

Area of ALL Rectangular Faces = ________________________________

Name:___________________________________

Area of ONE Rectangular Face = _______________________________________

2. Now that we know the surface area of one of the faces by itself, we can use factorisation to find the length and width
of the face. (Since in this question the face is a RECTANGLE, the dimensions are NOT going to be equal).

Dimensions of Rectangular Face = _______________________________________

Name:___________________________________

Helpful Hints if you get STUCK

If we opened up the cube, then the rectangular prism, and laid them flat on the desk, here is what they would look like:
CUBE RECTANGULAR PRISM
