MUSIC FROM SALEM: On Saturday, July 5 at 7pm
Hubbard Hall Projects will present Music from Salems first
summer season concert Over There: A Remembrance of World
War I. This concert, which is part of Hubbard Halls Celebra-
tion Weekend, is in honor of the centennial of World War I, and
includes Elgars Piano Quintet in A minor, and Zemlinskys String
Quartet No. 2. Both works, one English and one Austrian, were
written during and shortly after WWI, and were influenced by
tragic events of the war and also contain very personal refer-
ences. They are epic pieces on a grand scale, incorporating

NEW ART EXHIBIT- The Saratoga County Historical Society
today announced the new art exhibit, Local Beauty by landscape
artist, Takeyce Walter, at Brookside Museums Long Room Gallery
from thru-June 27, 2014. Walter, a Saratoga County artist and
art instructor, will display some of her works in oil and pastel that
feature the rural landscape of upstate New York, the Adirondacks,
Cape Cod, and Vermont. We are very excited to display Takeyce
Walters paintings, said Brooksides curator, Kathleen Coleman.
Walter donated a painting of the Neilson House (at the Saratoga
Battlefield) to the museums collection a few years ago. Since
then Ive wanted to display more of her beautiful landscapes. We
are focusing on female artists in 2014, so the timing is perfect.
Walter has been documenting her art process on her personal
blog at http://takeyceart.com/home/blog/. Her work will remain
on display at Brookside until June 27. A public reception will be
held on Friday, June 6 from 5 8 pm as part of Ballston Spas
First Friday event. The Saratoga County Historical Society at
Brookside is a non-profit organization located at 6 Charlton Street
in Ballston Spa that inspires community memory by telling the
story of Saratoga County through engaging exhibits and interactive
programs. Brooksides programs and services are made possible
in part by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support
of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.
