same situation continues no person prefer to approach Government (epartment
Engineers. Even some of the Buildings are being entrusted to consultants who are
less /ualified i.e., (iploma holders or others. 1any of us say that it is all due to
corrosion of steel. 1y /uestion is that when the same steel is used by private
owners why the steel is not getting corroded.

'ei nforcement i s due to presence of 1ari ne atmosphere and the
corrosi on takes pl ace very easi l y i n such atmosphere. ,hi s probl em

'ei nforcement before casti ng concrete of 'oof sl ab and 'oof Beams,
even though i t i s a bi t costl i er. ,hi s e%tra cost i s very nomi nal when
compared to fai l ure of structure at an earl y age. ,he Bui l di ng 88'

measure as we al l know that Preventi on i s al ways better than cure.
It i s very i nteresti ng to observe that the Rai'.ay au"h!ri"ies

Bui l di ngs as nobody bothers about them, they are l eft open and offer
