Released time has been hugely successful. A very large group. Kids disappointed that the last day of release
they were not going to the Nursing Home, which pastor feels is a wonderful testament to the kids making
connections. Potentially a larger group next year. Will need to think about planning for more kids and to
discuss transportation needs. May need more helpers and volunteers. Volunteers have been super, valued
and essential no matter how big or small the task. Pastor will contact the school to estimate incoming 5
th

grade class size and explore Palmer Bus assistance with transportation or if we will need to limit our num-
bers.
Discussed ideas for special outdoor service with alternative instrumentation.

Stewardship of the Good News
Ecclesiastes 3:1 For everything there is a season,
and a time for every matter under heaven
By the time you will be reading this I will be the
father of FOUR children! Right now Im just an
impatient (and nervous, scared, excited) daddy,
who needs to put his trust in God, as the Dr. has
decided its a good idea to induce Jennifer tomor-
row (6/27). Jennifer and Baby #4 are both healthy,
so for now Im at peace.
In a time where everything is about to change with
the impending birth of a new child of God into my
family, I find myself a bit reflective. I think about
the last five years I have been blessed to be a part
of this wonderful congregation. Both the highs
and lows we have shared together, the progress we
have made, the traditions we have further empow-
ered and new traditions we have started together
and I feel blest. I also dont want to rest on just
looking backward at what we have done, but like
with the birth of a new child, I want to dream and
imagine what the future might hold for us as a con-
gregation for the next 5 years, 10 years, or more.
I shared with council at our last meeting that I
want to have a plan for what we want to be in 5
years and then be active
in making those goals a
reality. I dont want to be
the only voice in what
that looks like (although I
do want a voice, as I care
deeply about who we are
and become here at
Peace), so I want to hear
what the hopes and dreams YOU have for OUR
church. Talk to one of our council members, talk
with each other, talk with people who go to other
churches, and talk with people who dont go to any
church. God is alive and active here at Peace Lu-
theran and in the town of Barrett and we not only
want to be a part of what God is doing, but need to

be. Dream BIG! God is not one who scares easily
in the face of challenges or obstacles, in fact God
works in, with and through those things that are
unthinkably big.
As anyone who has been a part of any youth things
Ive done, can tell you, I have very high standards
for people and ministries. I genuinely believe in
People, and in God working through People. That
includes you. Are we going to focus on our Sunday
Worship service, or alternate worship experiences?
Are we going to focus on serving our Neighbors
(and how are we going to define that in practice)?
Are we going to focus on intergenerational minis-
tries, or separated out experiences by age or gen-
der?
So what season and time is it?
Ecclesiastes 3:1-11 For everything there is a season,
and a time for every matter under heaven: a time
to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a
time to pluck up what is planted; a time to kill, and
a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to
build up; a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a
time to mourn, and a time to dance; a time to
throw away stones, and a time to gather stones to-
gether; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain
from embracing; a time to seek, and a time to lose;
a time to keep, and a time to throw away; a time to
tear, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and
a time to speak; a time to love, and a time to hate; a
time for war, and a time for peace. What gain have
the workers from their toil? I have seen the busi-
ness that God has given to everyone to be busy
with. He has made everything suitable for its time;
moreover, he has put a sense of past and future in-
to their minds, yet they cannot find out what God
has done from the beginning to the end.
