Setting Up Users
To enable access to any o$ the -+. pa%es or 'in&o's) a System /&ministrator must $irst
create a ne' application user) lin(in% the user to a person &e$ine& in -racle 01 or to a
customer contact. The user must ha,e access to the &e$ault responsibility 2-racle +earnin%
.ana%ement /&ministrator3 supplie& 'ith the application.
You must also attach a role to the application user i$ the user re4uires to per$orm speci$ic
a&ministrati,e tas(s. You can restrict a&ministrator access to a subset o$ the application 2such

oo!ups
+oo(ups are common to all -racle applications. !se loo(ups 'hen you 'ant to speci$y the
,alues that users can enter into a particular $iel&. The list o$ ,alues ensures that all users use the
same set o$ in$ormation) 'hich ma(es it easy to in4uire an& report about the in$ormation.
+oo(ups also spee& up &ata entry because you can enter just enou%h &ata to i&enti$y the ,alue)
an& the system completes the entry.
Each list o$ ,alues) calle& a loo(up type) consists o$ a co&e an& a meanin%. ;or e"ample) the
YES_NO loo(up type contains a co&e Y) meanin% Yes) an& a co&e N) meanin% No. !sers see
only the ,alues) Yes an& No) they &o not see the co&es. You can a&& ne' loo(up ,alues at any
time. You can set the Enable ;la% $or a ,alue to No) so that it no lon%er appears in the list o$
,alues) or you can use the Start an& En& ates to control 'hen a ,alue appears in a list.
There are some pre&e$ine& loo(up types. You can &e$ine loo(up ,alues $or the pre&e$ine&
loo(up types &epen&in% on the access le,el.

The access le,el $or a loo(up &e$ines the ability to &isable ,alues an& a&& ne' ,alues. There
are three access le,els $or loo(ups:
< User level: You can a&& ne' ,alues an& &isable the supplie& ,alues. /n e"ample o$ this
access le,el is the Trainin% =lan Component Cancellation 1eason loo(up. You can &isable
a particular reason or a&& ne' reasons 'hen applicable.
< Extensible level: You can a&& ,alues) but you cannot &isable supplie& ,alues because the
application re4uires them. /n e"ample o$ this type is the Content Ser,er =rotocol Types.
8t has the supplie& ,alues $tp) http) an& https that you cannot &isable. You can) ho'e,er)
a&& ne' protocols i$ re4uire&.
< System level: You can neither a&& ,alues nor &isable supplie& ,alues. You can only
chan%e the meanin% or &escription o$ supplie& ,alues. Catalo% -bjects is one e"ample o$ a

Defining a #usiness $roup
You &e$ine a business %roup an& internal trainin% or%ani*ations so that you can select these
or%ani*ations 'hen you create trainin% acti,ities an& sche&ule e,ents. You can share your
or%ani*ation &e$initions 'ith other -racle applications.
8$ you are implementin% -racle 0uman 1esources) use your 01 7usiness >roup) 'hich
enables you to share &ata on people) or%ani*ations) locations) an& s(ills across the applications.
8$ you are implementin% -+. 'ithout -racle 01) use the supplie& setup business %roup) 'ith
all o$ its &e$ault &e$initions) as the startin% point $or your o'n business %roup. The &e$ault
responsibility uses this business %roup.
7usiness %roups are either %lobal or local. You implement a %lobal 2sin%le3 business %roup that
enables you to &e$ine all your trainin% structures only once. This enables learners $rom other
business %roups to enroll in classes in the %lobal business %roup. .ultiple business %roups are)
ho'e,er) use$ul i$ the enterprise is a hol&in% company or a corporation 'ith a number o$
subsi&iary companies sprea& across the %lobe. 8n this case) you must implement local business
%roups 'ith locali*e& trainin% or%ani*ations.

2e%ining 5raining Organizations
Defining %raining Organizations
-r%ani*ations are your internal trainin% &epartments an& other &epartments. They can also be
e"ternal or%ani*ations such as recruitment companies 2$or 01 &epartments3.
8n -+.) you &e$ine a business %roup an& internal trainin% or%ani*ations so that you can select
these or%ani*ations 'hen you &e$ine courses an& sche&ule classes. You set up your internal
trainin% &epartments as -r%ani*ations) an& your trainin% centers as o$ the type Trainin% Center.
You &o not assi%n people to Trainin% Centers in -racle 01) thou%h you must &e$ine these
centers as 01 -r%ani*ations i$ you must a&& them to -r%ani*ation 0ierarchies. 0o'e,er) you
&o not use trainin% centers in those 01 or%ani*ation hierarchies that you inten& to use $or 01
reportin% purposes) such as hea& count.
