THINGS TO BURY

On The night when the slaves were set free in Jamaica, in 1838, a large
mahogany coffin was made and a grave was dug. Into that coffin the
liberated slaves threw the reminders of their former life of slaverywhips,
torture irons, branding irons, coarse frocks and shirts, large hats, fragment of
a treadmill, and handcuffs. Then the lid was screwed down. At the stroke of
midnight the coffin was lowered into the grave and buried. Then the liberated
natives sang the doxology: Praise God, from whom all blessing flow, Praise
Him, all creatures here below, Praise Him above ye heavenly host, Praise
Father, Son and Holy Ghost!
When Christ comes into our lives, He sets us free from the bondage of sin.
There are many things of our former life which we throw away, discard, bury!
Paul enumerates some of them: Uncleanness, inordinate affectionand
covetousness, which is idolatry (Col 3:5). Peter also mentions some of them:
Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies,
and all evil speaking (1 Peter 2: 1).

ANNOUNCEMENTS AND INFORMATION

Todays Toy Box toy is one that everyone has played
with: the puzzle. Its hard to put together a puzzle when
you cant see the big picture. Life is a lot like that
because God doesnt always let us see the big picture.
But when we trust the God who created us, he will fit
the pieces together one by one, and he will never
disappoint us.

Thank You for supporting the Russellville Church of
God Childrens Ministries.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL

Vacation Bible School was a huge success! Joe &
Gabbie and their decorating crew did an amazing job of
creating Faith Commander Headquarters. We had great
attendance each night and the children had a great time
giving in the offerings. The children heard the message
of Jesus this week as parables came to life by the story
tellers! The preliminary music was awesome. The
singers got the children totally involved in the worship.
We want to thank everyone for their hard work: It
could not have happened without you! We especially
thank the Kays Kitchen Crew. The food was delicious
every night, you did a great job! Thank you Pastor Joe
& Gabbie for your hard work in making VBS a success!
We will have more news about the final results next
week!

Pastor Jonathons Word of The Week

Religious liberty in America is being slowly
and surely taken away. There seems to be a
code of platitudes that certain people have
prepared who, in many cases, make no
profession of true Christianity. You either
use these platitudes or you are silenced or,
if permitted to be heard, smeared as a bigot
or fanatic!
