CAREER SUMMARY/ OBJECTIVE
With 18 years of extensive experience in G & G practices of hydrocarbon exploration and development.
Looking to build my career in a reputed company where my skills could be utilized for the entire growth of
the company and thereby improving my skills and knowledge.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Growth Path: From Jan93-May98 as Geologist-Senior Geologist, Jorhat, Assam ONGC From
Jun98-Mar06 as Senior Geologist- Deputy Superintending Geologist, Mumbai ONGC From
Apr06-Mar07 as Superintending Geologist, Farsi Block, Iran (OVL) ONGC From
Apr07-May10 as Superintending Geologist, Mumbai ONGC Since Jun10 as Superintending
Geologist, Dehradun Job role & responsibilities as Superintending Geologist: Responsible for completing the
minimum work programme committed to the DGH, India for Saurashtra-Dahanu PEL, Western Offshore, India.
Looking into 3D seismic PSTM data interpretation in IIWS, Western Offshore Basin of India (Saurashtra
Offshore) using the complete suite of landmark interpretation at workstation. (Seisworks, Stratworks, DTE,
TDQ, Zmap). Planning 3 HP-HT wells which would be taken up in 2010-11. Petroleum System Analysis:
Demonstrating abilities in handling 2D & 3D seismic data interpretation in Saurashtra Offshore Block using
Landmark software & Petrosys Mapping Guru. The 2D3D project incorporated analysis and integration of all
geological and geophysical data related to B-9 area of Saurashtra-Dahanu PEL (India). The project
incorporated integration of drilled well data, log data and all laboratory data and their integration with
seismic data to work out a geological model for the evolution of the area of interest and to use the model to
demarcate areas for future HC exploration. Carrying out studies in North of Mumbai High in the Western
Offshore Shallow Water Saurashtra area particularly Saurashtra-Dahanu PEL. Late Oligocene (Daman
Formation) Sand Isolith was prepared based on well data of the known area and extended it to the study
area with overlay of possible Carbonate-Clastic Boundary. Another model was prepared based on carbonate
thickness, frequency and carbonate-shale ratio of Early Oligocene Sequence (Upper Mahuva Formation),
which helped to understand the geological model in less explored Saurashtra-Dahanu PEL area. Preparing
data package for mining lease application of B-9 area for submission to the Govt. of India. Noteworthy
Contributions: Discovery of gas in B-9 structure in Saurashtra-Dahanu PEL. Oil and Gas find in Farsi Block
of Iran in Perian Gulf. Participated in a few drain hole drilling and suggested mid course correction as a well
site for achieving target in the initial phase of Mumbai High development, resulting in oil gain. Monitored
drilling of Horizontal wells including multilateral horizontal wells in Mumbai High Oil Field, wells with MWD
technology and successfully landed within one meter in TVD inside pay zones for drain hole drilling by
precise gamma ray correlation. Effectively prepared reservoir models and maps to help identify the Sweet
Zones in L-III reservoir of Mumbai High field. These maps and models were prepared from 3D seismic data
integrated with log and drilled well data. The exact well paths were identified and in consultation with a
multi disciplinary team evolved the drilling plan for multilateral horizontal wells. Acreage Monitoring/Bidding:
Monitored acreage under the NELP regime (GSOSN-2001/3) and PEL (Saurashtra-Dahanu PEL) under the
earlier license system, wells (B-12-9, B-12B-1A B-9-1, B-9-2, B-9-3) of the acreage during drilling and
provided guidance to the operations team. Functioned as Team Member in the evaluation of NELP-V Indian
Shallow Water Block; bidding by ONGC. (GS-OSN-2003/1) Reserve Estimation: Prepared REC Maps (Structure
Maps, Pay Map, Product Map) and carried out reserve estimation of the oil & gas wells (B-12-9, B-9-1, B-9-2,
B-9-3) in Saurashtra-Dahanu PEL, Mumbai offshore, India. Real Time Data Monitoring Facility: Functioned as
Founder Member of Deep Water Real Time Monitoring Cell, establishing the first Deep Water Control Room
(2003-04), monitoring facility of ONGC at Exploration Office, Mumbai. Exploration in Iran Offshore:
Successfully completed four well drilling programmes in Iran Offshore (Farsi Block) in Persian Gulf (2006-07)
which led to oil & gas discovery. This was first OVL operated drilling project abroad. Blow out control
Operations: Was associated with the relief well operations of B-121 platform in the Mumbai Offshore from
planning to controlling the blow out, with the help of two relief wells (B-121-CR, B-121-DR). Well Site
Operations: Efficiently monitored critical phases of drilling and cored the exact required horizons. Guided
mud logging unit crew at Western & Eastern Offshore of India and Iran to achieve the exploration target.
Have been pivotal in analysing & interpreting sub-surface geological data during drilling and helped in safe
execution of well programme. Worked as a wellsite Geologist in the discovery wells B-192-8, B-22-5, BS-16-1
(Mumbai offshore) and KD-1-1 & GD-1-1 in the deep water of K-G Basin. (Eastern Offshore). Documented
well data and prepared well completion reports of drilled wells. Exploration /Development Geology: Looked
into the development geology and work over planning and execution for three years in Borholla - Changpang,
Khoraghat Oil Fields of Assam. Achieved oil gain through work over jobs in Borholla-Changpang Oil Field of
Assam-Nagaland, India. Successfully carried out effective work over planning including choosing of wells for
work over jobs and planning of jobs to be carried out in Borholla & Khoraghat oil fields in Assam, India.
Identified well for gas lift and PLT studies in Borholla field, Assam.
