1 Introduction of the study


Now a days, education is not just limited to books and classrooms. In todays world, education
is the tool to understand the real world and apply knowledge for the betterment of the society as
well as business. From education the theoretical knowledge is obtained from courses of study,
which is only the half way of the subject matter. Practical knowledge has no alternatie. !he
perfect coordination between theory and practice is of paramount importance in the conte"t of
the modern business world in order to resole the dichotomy between these two areas. Internship
Program brings a student closer to the real life situation and thereby helps to launch a career with
some prior e"perience.

capital of an economy, banking system plays a significant role to ensure economic growth.
'angladeshi banking sector consists of central bank )named as 'angladesh 'ank*, +ommercial
banks, ,eelopment 'anks and %peciali(ed Financial Institutions. !he +ommercial banks
comprise of Nationali(ed +ommercial 'ank )N+'*, -ocal Priate 'ank, Foreign Priate 'ank,
and Islamic 'ank. In recent years, we obsere a mushroom growth in the banking sector in
'angladesh. !he ery actie and boisterous presence of priate sector has stirred competition
among the traditional commercial banks. Now, there are ./ priate banks )01 domestic and 11
foreign* operating in 'angladesh.
First %ecurity Islami 'ank -imited is one of the leading priate commercial bank haing a
spread network of 10 branches across 'angladesh and plans to open few more branches to coer
the important commercial areas in ,haka, +hittagong, 2hulna and other areas in /311. First
%ecurity Islami 'ank has been operating in 'angladesh since 1444 and has achieed public
confidence as a sound and stable bank.

'ank is the heart of the economics and banking is the blood circulation of countrys economic
growth. 'anks perform a significant role to sere the needs of the society in different sectors,
such as7 capital formation, large scale of production, industriali(ation, growth of trade and
commerce etc. and banks are contributing a lot of aspect First %ecurity Islami 'ank of
'angladesh -td has already emerged as one of the world wide recogni(ed banks due to better
customer serice according to the principles of Islamic %hariah. Islamic banking is a new
diminution of interest free banking where ><iba or interest is strictly prohibited.
%o I hae tried my best to represent my e"perience and learning about their performance and
problems and prospects on the ground of general banking.

5 serious time constraint was the main limitation restricting this report from being more detailed
or analytical. It was also not possible to go to the different department of F%I'- to practically
obsere and find out more about the organi(ational policies of the company and their true use.

permission from 'angladesh 'ank on // %eptember 1444 to commence its business. !he 'ank

seen )10* branches in the country. !he 'ank conerted its banking operation into Islamic

obtaining approal from Cigh +ourt, Finance ?inistry and 'angladesh 'ank. !he commercial
banking actiities of the bank encompass a wide range of serices including mobili(ing deposits,
proiding inestment facilities, discounting bills, conducting money transfer and foreign
e"change transactions, and performing other related serices such as safe keeping, collections
and issuing guarantees, acceptances and letter of credit.

".1 General *an(ing
5ll business concerns earn a profit through selling either a product or serice. 5 bank does not
produce any tangible product to sell but does offer a ariety of financial serices to customers.
8eneral 'anking is the starting point of all the banking operating. 8eneral 'anking department
aids in taking deposits and simultaneously proides some ancillaries serices. It proides those
customers who come fre6uently and those customers who come one time in banking for enjoying
ancillary serices. In some general banking actiities, there is no relation between banker and
customers who will take only one serice form the bank. 9n the other hand, there are some
customers with who bank are doing its business fre6uently. It is the department, which proides
day@to@day serices to the customers. #ery day it receies deposits from the customers and
meets their demand for cash by honoring che6ues. It opens new accounts, demit funds, issue
bank drafts and pay orders etc. since bank in confined to proide the serice eeryday general
