This document provides a summary of a tracer study conducted on graduates of the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology program from Ifugao State University between 2008-2012. Key findings include:
1. 43% of respondents were eligible for IT-related certification exams, with 35% passing the NC II exam and 7% passing civil service exams.
2. Graduates pursued the IT degree primarily because the program was offered locally at an affordable public university, and because of perceived job prospects in the field.
3. Most graduates (83%) had no additional training, while 11% pursued further education. Those unemployed cited family responsibilities and lack of opportunities or experience.
4. Graduates felt most proficient in

B. TECHNICAL REPORT:
TITLE: Graduate Tracer Study as a Paradigm for Enhancing Quality of Information TechnologyEducation at IFSU Potia Campus. (Revision)
ABSTRACT:
The study was confined to the 81 graduates of the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, IFSU Potia Campus, and S.Y. 2008 2012. The focus was on the demographic profile of the IT graduates in terms of personal variables and economic status, employment status, educational background, employment transition and job history.
Findings disclosed that forty-three percent (43%) of respondents are eligible to apply their profession. From this 43%, 35% passed the NC II Examination; 7%, the Civil Service Examinations. They pursued Information Technology degree because their parents can afford to let their children go to a state college where tuition fee is very minimal (70.96%), availability of the course in the state college (70.96%), prospect for immediate employment (98.38%), provided with a college scholarship (75.80), and the influence of their parents or relative and peers (74.19%) are the top five reasons. The other 24.19% pursued their course because they have no particular choice or no better idea. Eighty-three percent (83%) of the respondents had no trainings whatsoever. Eleven percent (11%) pursued graduate studies for professional development, promotion, and better job prospects. Eight and a half percent (8.5%) are unemployed, because of family responsibility (4.9%), because of lack of job opportunities (1.2%), and lack of work experience (1.2%). One and a - half percent (1.2%) are employed either as managers or proprietor, (34.6%) professional, technical and supervisory, and (42%) are clerks, laborers or unskilled workers, (6.2%) are in private households here in the country. In relation to field of specialization, the 81 respondents are extremely satisfied in their proficiency in relation to computer security with 40.2%, computer hardware servicing and network management (58.5%), interpersonal communication skills (54.9%), the use of ICT software applications (51.2%), and teamwork skills (53.7%). The job sector where the graduates belong are private firm multinational (3.7%), private firm local (33.3%), Non - government organization (14.8%), local government (16.0%), national government (4.9%), and the rest in education and personal businesses with (5.2%).
The world today is technology-driven. It is apparent how the young generation of today is blinded with information and communication technology gadgets that carries and delivers forms of learning, music, games and the like (Tenedero, 2006). The contemporary generation of learners from pre-school to college is techno-digitally comfortable departing from the traditional classroom setting. This group of learners was born surrounded by different technology making it an essential part of their lives. Various forms of information and communication technology like computers, cellular phones, videogames, the internet and other forms have made learning easier for learners. In the learning process, students have radically changed with the advent of technology. This fast- pacing world also makes a very quick transfer of information making the world seem very small. Constant exposure to the World Wide Web and its by-products has made the thinking pattern of students change (Vega, 2006). Studies have shown support to this perspective where patterns of thinking of the young generation are already different compared to the earlier generation. According to Berry (_,p._), students brains have physically changed and different from ours- as a result of how they grew up. Accordingly, technology is important in teaching-learning process of this generation. This generation of students who grew up with and are computer technology dependent are called the digital natives. The digital language is innate to them. They no longer read the instructions on how to use a new electronic gadget-they already know how to use it by merely looking at it. They speak and understand the language easily like a native speaker. They are no longer the students to whom the educational system was designed to teach (Prensky, 2001).

III. OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY:
Objectives Percentage Completion

100%
2. To determine the learning adaptation and adjustment process of digital natives in the learning culture of IFSU;
100%
3. To establish a new and a good teaching learning design and methods;
100%
4. To frame an effective faculty development retooling in ICT to fill-in the learning gaps between the digital natives and digital immigrants of Ifugao State University for future policy formulation.
100%
IV. PROCEDURE/ METHODOLOGY: In this chapter, the methods, procedures and instrument that have been used in conducting this research study of the Adaptation and Adjustment of Digital Natives and Digital Immigrants of the Ifugao State University Teaching Culture is being presented. 4.1 Research Design The researchers opted to use the descriptive - quantitative approach to collect data of the research study; the approach will also use a format instrument that is much easier to generalize. Quantitative research provides generalized data on the objects that are being analyzed, thus, the information is not so detailed on behavior and attitudes of the subject matters. The researchers will make use of descriptive

research design and are integrated in the questionnaires because this research involves collecting of data in order to test the hypotheses or answer questions concerning the current status of respondents. It also determines and reports the ways things are.
4.2 Research Method Used The study will use the descriptive methods of research, a non experimental survey to find out how the digital natives adapt and adjust to the learning culture of IFSU. Furthermore, this method of research is a careful, critical, and disciplined inquiry in techniques and methods according to the nature and conditions of the problems identified, directed toward the clarification of the problems or conditions. The researcher through the Research Aide will be floating the survey questionnaire at the campuses of Ifugao State University. Retrieve the questionnaire, collate the data, analyze and present as well.
4.3 Samples and Sampling Technique In this study, the researchers considered as many respondents as possible which the Purposive Sampling. To qualify as respondents, they should be an IFSU Faculty who has a teaching load. To locate the respondents, the researchers with the Research Aide visit the faculty office of the different program in the university and conduct also an interview to other faculty members. 4.4 Instrumentation The researchers make used of survey questionnaires as the data-gathering tool for this study. Questionnaires will be distributed to among the faculty of the Ifugao State University. In-person distribution and e-mail questionnaires, telephone have been used by the researchers to collect data. Through In-person distribution the researcher scheduled a specific time to locate the respondents in their residences basing on their addresses given.. The telephone questionnaire has little to recommend beyond

speed and low cost. It was be conducted over the phone. The researchers administered survey to the respondents who are not capable of answering through e-mail and in-person distribution. Questionnaires will also be give respondents time to think about the questions and their responses, thus producing more accurate information period. It can also eliminate the problem of geographic limitations because this can be e-mailed. The instrument was developed based on the objectives of the study. The instrument is composed of several parts which will help the researchers in gathering the necessary data needed for the study. The questionnaire includes the personal information and the contact confirmation of the respondents. The employment profile which includes employment status and participants job information is included. The questionnaire have a close ended questions which are answerable by yes or no selections in which the respondents could choose more than one response for the reason that the information will be more accurate. 4.5 Data Collection Procedure The researchers gathered the primary data on the 1 st week of April, 2013. The researchers got the list of IFSU Faculty from the Human Resource Development Center. The researchers started distributing the survey questionnaires on the 1 st week of May up to 1 st week of July, 2013. 4.6 Statistical Formula Used The statistical treatment of data that will be used in this study is through percentile and frequency method. The researchers will get the frequency of the respondents demographic and employment profile including their usage in ICT materials in teaching. This will determine the frequency by adding all the answer of the respondents to a certain question. The researchers will get the percentage by dividing the frequency to the total numbers of respondents multiplied to 100% (frequency/total respondents x 100%). e.g. 44 are employed respondents/50 total numbers of respondents x 100%= 9%. 88% are employed.
