Ibn Killis

I am Ibn Killis, and I was an Iraqi Jew who had adopted Islam. I was originally from
Egypt. My life was great, first starting with joining the service of the Fatimids in
North Africa. This was a good experience, because it led me to later be promoted
to be the first Fatimid wazir in Egypt. This was all because of my exceptional skills
as an administrator. Yet this wasnt where I stopped yet, as I would later be
promoted even further, from just a wazir. I would be given the title of al-wazir al-
ajall, meaning the illustrious wazir. I helped the economy of Egypt, by making it
more prosperous than it had ever been. Also, my policies had helped to resolve
disputes in Syria, making the Fatimid success in this area apparent. I was also
extremely intelligent in terms of Ismaili law. My knowledge was developed under
al-Qadi al-Numan. Based off of my intelligence, I had composed legal work based
on the pronouncements of Imam al-Muizz and Imam al-Aziz. Everybody
celebrated, and I had been called very intelligent as my contributions were
surprising, considering I had just converted from Judaism.
