Increase your spare parts sale volume.
INTRODUCTION
2
ETKA 7.3 New Features
ETKA 7.3 includes three new administrative features to help you to work more efficiently and
have your work in ETKA be more effective.
Updates happen while you work!
Continue to use ETKA 7.3even performing searcheswhile the system completes
updates. This optimized updating feature considerably reduces the time you need to
spend on data updates.
When the update gets underway, you will see a small pop-up window appear in the upper
left corner of your monitor. You can move this window to a more convenient location,
if necessary, by positioning your cursor on the blue bar at the top of the window and
holding down a left-click of your mouse while you drag the pop-up window to a new
location.
You may notice a brief interruption when this updating process is going on and you are
working in other software programs.
Add attachments to your notes
Now when you create your own note related to a part/part number, you can attach
pictures and/or documents directly to the note.
NEW ADMINISTRATIVE FEATURES

ETKA 7.3 New Features
Networked users can access any note another user has created
Beginning with notes made in 7.3, if you choose, your notes can be centrally stored for
your network, making them available to all users of your choosing, at all times. In this
way, each user can have access to the same information. Photos and other documents
can be attached to notes. (Note: You can also choose to move or copy older notes from
your C drive to your shared file, so that those notes, too, will be available.)
To take advantage of this feature:
From ETKA 7.3s homepage lick on MAINTENANCE
Click on INI - EDITOR
1. Under UNIVERSALLY, click on Remarks
2. Click on the checkbox in front of Path
3. Click on the SEARCH button to browse locations, selecting a path to get to
destination file
4. Optional: If access to the path to the central location where you choose to store
your ETKA 7.3 notes requires using a username and password, you can enter and
store them at this point in the set-up, so you wont have to enter them every time
you want to access your notes.
5. Click on the TEST PATH button to test that youve selected the intended path
6. Click on the STORE button to save.

The panel previewin two display modesis now available, in a variety of situations, to help
you see everything you need at a glance:
1. In searches from the subgroup overview:
Select your preferred panel preview display mode by clicking on the Display
individual figures or Display miniature images buttons.
You can easily go back and forth between the two display modes:
Display of miniaturie images Display of individual figures
= Fade in
to individual illustration figures
= Fade out
to multiple miniature images

2. In the picture-text view, the panel preview allows you to fade miniature images of the
main group in or out.
3. When you search for a part via a Word Search or for part number via a PAL (formerly,
ATP) Search, the search results are now shown in a panel preview. When your
search for a part results in multiple pages, and you select one of the search hits to
view, the other results will be shown along the bottom of your screen in a panel
preview. This allows you to select another hit to view by just clicking on the panel
preview of it, instead of having to back up, remember the other pages, or redo the
search in order to access the other search results you might need to look at in order
to find the part you need:

The panels that contain FI suggestions have the illustration numbers in black in both the
subgroup overview and the panel preview. Note that all other illustration numbers are
grayed out, except for the one (circled here in red) that is the FI suggestion:
Using the new Compress FI display and Decompress FI display buttons, you can now
determine what results you see in the panel preview:

FI suggestions are additionally identified with a green marking. Original Parts marked in
orange have multiple uses; these parts require further information before making a
selection (e.g., items for installation on the left or right side). Color identification is
available through either graphic navigation or through the conventional parts search:

ETKA 7.3 New Features
Several new search features help speed up your searches:
You can now search for PR NUMBERS using their description
Find the PR code youre looking for with the help of the corresponding description of
the vehicle feature/option. The search narrows down the resulting choices after each
additional letter of the description is entered in the Input field.
For example, if youre interested in checking out the PR code for tires, typing a t into
the Input field begins narrowing down your search results, and with each additional letter,
your search becomes more targeted to the resulting tire entries:

9
ETKA 7.3 New Features
You are reminded of a part number when you perform a PR Number search:
If you have just completed a part search and want to perform a search for a PR code, as a
helpful reminder, the part number you found is displayed on the header of the Car Data
window.
Once youve completed your Parts search:
. . . use the right-click menu to initiate a
seconda PR-Numbersearch:
. . . notice that in ETKA 7.3, the part
number you found in your just completed
search is displayed in the header of the Car
Data window:
. . while the PR codes are displayed as
theyve always been in the main part of the
search window.

You will experience improved SDC search results
The hit accuracy in searches using the Service Diagnosis Code (SDC) has been
enhanced as a result of improved logic functions taking place in the background.

The ETKA Order Form can now assist you in building your parts orders.
In our market, at this time, you will continue to order parts through Parts On Command or
your DMS, as you have in the past. However, you may find that the ETKA Order form can
save you time and increase the accuracy of your orders.
The order form serves as a helpful tool in collecting all the necessary parts in one list that
you want to order for a repair, particularly for large repair orders. Once you have the list,
you can print it out and have it available to help you place your parts order.
To use the ETKA Order Form for listing the parts you intend to order in POC:

Take advantage of the benefits of partslink24, the web-based catalog service LexCom
offers to independent repair facilities (IRF). As an authorized dealer, partslink24 allows
you to e-mail illustrations and receive NORA orders from IRFs. Send your NORA
customers an e-mail with a link that allows them to open the corresponding picture-text
page via partslink24. This allows your NORA customers to conduct their own searches
and order the required Genuine Part directly from you via partslink24.
partslink24 for you:
Access for dealers to partslink24 is free
Having a dealership account allows an IRF to select you as an authorized dealer to fill
their parts order

An IRF user must set up a www.partslink24.com account for ongoing access, but no
account is required to use the e-mail function only
Without an account, an IRF user will have 24 hours to access a specific catalog page that
you have e-mailed to them
IRF users can send you a Shopping Cart with the part(s) they wish to order based on their
exploration of the ETKA catalog page link you have provided.
The NORA Order Form function

35
ETKA 7.3 New Features
Once your DMS has decided to create the interface with ETKA, even more new features will be
available to you!
A DMS-ETKA interface consists of bi-directional communication between the DMS and the ETKA
Catalog to allow customer repair orders (ROs) to be opened in the Catalog, the necessary parts
selected and transferred back to the DMS, with the goal of reducing the need to re-type or copy
and paste VIN and part numbers, thereby reducing the possibility of manual-data-entry-related
errors.
If your DMS provider has made the move to interface with ETKA . . . you will be able to
search for a repair order (RO) using a customers name or license number. Via such a
DMS interface, ETKA is able to access the ROs youve created through your DMS system,
so instead of looking up all of the parts for a repair in ETKA and then manually entering
them on the RO, you can open ETKA to access the RO. Once youve searched by
customer name (or license number), the VIN will automatically populate, you can proceed
to select the necessary parts, add them to the quote and save it. When you return to
your DMS system, you can open the quote and save it to the RO.
If your DMS provider has made the move to interface with ETKA . . . the Optimized
Warehousing feature may prove beneficial for multiple-location dealers. When you make
an inventory inquiry, ETKA will take the storage location of your multiple-locations into
consideration and display inventory available per dealership location via Parts information.
[NOTE TO ADP USERS: For more information about the ADP interface with ETKA, see your
ADP-ETKA Catalog Interface User Guide.]

ETKA 7.3 New Features
In the future, our market may be able to take advantage of or decide to adopt these additional
ETKA 7.3 features:
Photos will be available in the Color Combination tab of the V pages: Volkswagen and
Audi plan to add photos at this location in the future to help you visualize the available
color combinations for a model at a glance by clicking on the camera icon.
Best before date icon indicates which parts from Germany (e.g., engine oil) have
an expiration date. Look for this display icon in the far right of the Additional Info portion
toward the bottom of the Part Information screen. Theres no need to click on this icon; it
just is an indicator that the part has an expiration date, not what that date is.
Service key display: In 2012, we expect to roll out this feature, which will provide you
with information related to customer data and vehicle maintenance history.
Depot availability display: We are currently investigating the functionality of this feature
for our markets multi-tiered warehouse system.
